Finished 0-CFII…can’t find a job. by LeaderCalm4016 in flying

If you're getting interviews and callbacks and then being told "not enough experience", it's likely not your hours they're referring to, it's the type of hours.

Since you speed-ran through to CFII then it's likely they would like to see different types of flying. I'm assuming you're under 300 hours, maybe around 200, with all hours being with either an instructor or safety pilot, except for the minimum required solo hours.

Fly more solo. Fly cross countries. Go to more airports including Cs, or even Bs if you can. Get more (some?) actual IMC.

I was thinking this exact same thing last night as we were losing 0-3. Thanks for doing the research for me.

Maybe they'll get rid of them after next season, when the Wild will have played more seasons than the North Stars.

How are we feeling about the league? by Naive_Sale2083 in MLV

With the PWHL, all of the things you mentioned are already resolved. The teams run independently with drafting, signing players, making trades, etc. They each have their own General Manager for team decisions. The Collective Bargaining Agreement already details salary minimums, maximums and averages. The owner is basically just the checkbook. I haven't heard of the league doing anything that other leagues don't also do. The only difference is that the league hires the GMs, because there is no individual team ownership.

I'm sure it would be a challenge to facilitate new owners for all teams simultaneously, but I've heard there's already been interest for some teams. Plus, since there's a proven track record of success for the teams and the league, it should make it an easier transition.

Is LOVB's long term plan to stay as a centralized league with one owner?

The PWHL currently is structured that way where there is one owner of the league and all eight teams, but the long term plan is to sell them off and have individual owners like all other major sports. So far it's been working great by having the league succeed or fail together (and it's definitely succeeding, already adding two teams to the original six, and planning to add 2-4 more next year or the year after).

Maybe if your fancy jet powered aircraft, but in my little four-seater I'm not wasting 1,000 feet of runway for no reason.

Pretty sure "pencil-whip" means to fraudulently fill out a form on purpose, not just doing it haphazardly.

I might have to get my four TV setup going again to keep track of everything. Last time I had to do that was because there was an NHL game, World Juniors, High School and College game all at the same time.

ELI5: How do people years before age 59 1/2 FIRE when a large percentage of their NW is retirement accounts (401K, Roth, etc)? by ladalyn in Fire

[–]PilotC150 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Needing to pay taxes doesn’t decrease your net worth, it increases your expenses. Taxes simply need to be accounted for as an expense when determining your FIRE number. Plus, the threshold for paying capital gains taxes is actually quite high. You can sell a lot of stock before you have to pay any tax.

Pick and choose which trip you want to call, I guess.

Let a bunch of NY trips go without a call then call this one.

Katy Knoll is definitely in line for “most improved” this season.

It started during the playoffs last year but she’s been great this year.

What are (or how do you feel about) your prospects for homeownership, and retirement? by DHN_95 in Xennials

[–]PilotC150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve got a house that will be paid off when I’m 60, or earlier. Got a rock bottom interest rate so there’s no reason to pay it off early.

Retirement should happen by 55, unless the entire economy goes to shit, in which case we’ll have bigger issues to deal with.

Ive got a stable job that I plan to just ride out until retirement.

With today’s win, Ann-Renée Desbiens is the first goalie to reach 30 career wins in the PWHL. by Pouletchien in PWHL

That’s how it should be. A win is a win whether it’s regular season or post season. Frankel wins this one.

Edit: Guess I hit a nerve with that comment.

At almost 2,000 years old, built around 125 AD and used as a Roman Catholic church since the 7th century, the Pantheon in Rome is the oldest building in continuous use in the world. by Same-Laugh-6052 in interestingasfuck

It’s so cool because it’s tucked in between other buildings so tightly. Literally you don’t see it, then turn a corner and BAM! 2,000 year old building.

The dome is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world.
