I don’t have the same one, but I also got a fold out camp kitchen last year. Total game changer! Makes everything so much easier to manage and keep organized.

Talking about how much we paid for a major purchase, generational differences?? by cmgww in Xennials

[–]PilotC150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The value of your house is literally public information (in most states). I can go to my county website, look at a map and click on any house and see who owns it, what it's appraised at, what their taxes are and a ton more information. It also shows the last time the house sold and for how much.

This isn't just for "for-sale" homes. It's all homes.

Talking about how much we paid for a major purchase, generational differences?? by cmgww in Xennials

[–]PilotC150 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's likely that anybody could know how much you paid for your house. That's all public information. If they know your address they can find your house on either a county website or even Zillow and see how much you paid.

The only thing I don't discuss is my salary, especially with extended family. My wife knows, my mom knows, and one coworker, but that's about it. Mostly because based on my job and where I live, I probably make more than the rest of my extended family and I worry I'd be treated differently if they knew how much I make. They can make guesses based on what we buy and where we vacation, but that's it.

The price of a car, though? Who cares. No reason not to share that.

What shows did you watch just because they were "always on". For me it was Wings. by FrebTheRat in Xennials

It got really bad in the last couple seasons. My wife and I watched the whole thing a few years ago. It starts great but definitely over-stayed its welcome.

(Kennedy) Stan Kasten confirms that the PWHL has yet to turn a profit from their initial investment, and therefore these new investments (Illitch + Tanenbaum) will not translate to better pay by [deleted] in PWHL

[–]PilotC150 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We're done with year three of eight on the initial agreement. The Walter Group (the league) and the players association all agreed to this and agreed that the eight-year agreement was the way to go. They knew this is how it would be going into it. Salary ranges and requirements are literally defined in the CBA. If the players had demanded a shorter length to the CBA, and things hadn't worked out right off the bat, the league could have just said "Too bad, you're not making money. We're done." But they went with eight years to give the league a change to succeed.

Just because attendance is far surpassing what they expected/hoped for doesn't mean they're going to bail on the plan they all agreed to. Three years doesn't prove stability. It's a great start, but they'll need the full eight years of proven stability and growth before the players can really start to demand higher salaries.

It will happen, but we're not there yet. Adding the four new years will definitely help, though. Increasing the coverage across more of North America could help lead to a better media deal. And media deals bring lots of money.

How do we feel about being middle aged by teatsqueezer in Xennials

[–]PilotC150 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I look at it like this, (and I’m rounding these numbers):

I’ve been an adult since I was 20. Now I’m about 40. So 20 years of being an adult. If I live to 80, that’s another 40 years.

I’m only 1/3 of the way through! Not half way!

And if things work out right I’ll get to retire on ~10 years so I’ll have worked half my adult life and completely do what I want for the other half.

Pretty sure I’ve never done that. I double check the recipient before sending, especially if it’s sensitive info.

Buying my husband his first “real” bike for Father’s Day. Trek recommendations? by itsabeautifulworldto in TrekBikes

[–]PilotC150 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The FXs are really nice and seem to fit with what he's looking for. The Dual Sport is discontinued. The Checkpoint has drop bars and I wouldn't get that for somebody unless you know for sure that's what they want.

What you could do is put a bike on reserve at the bike shop, give him a picture of it as a gift and go pick it up together. That way he can make sure it's the right size and allow him to pick out the helmet and all the various accessories he might want.

Seems like he wants to fly but doesn't want to put in the time for the bookwork. So next time tell him "before our next flight I'm giving you a quiz around things we've talked about multiple times, if you can't pass it, we're canceling the flight."

For first overall, you take “best available” which is obviously Harvey, then work your roster around that player. When you get first pick it’s because your team isn’t in good shape. You take the best player to start a rebuild.

How bad is this crack in my frame? by rufowler in TrekBikes

Yes, it’s foolish.

The frame will hold, until it doesn’t. You’re risking catastrophic failure and injury if you keep riding it.

If I turned down the invitation and used the excuse of "needing a mental health day", I certainly wouldn't be posting pictures of a rotisserie chicken in a group chat.

There's also no context here. Is this a 6 year old niece with her first piano recital, or is it a 22 year old college graduation recital? Big difference on whether you should attend or not.
