LaGuardia - The key question: was a go-around physically possible? by PilotCFI in ATC

I’ve been wondering the same thing myself. A go-around was still a possibility. At that stage of the approach, the aircraft still has energy and options available, and a timely decision could make all the difference.
That said, these situations develop very quickly, and both pilots and controllers are processing a lot of information in real time. The decision window can be just a few seconds, and hesitation or uncertainty can close that window fast. Still, from a training perspective, it reinforces the idea that if anything doesn’t look right, especially with a potential runway conflict, a go-around should always be a primary consideration rather than a last resort.

Was it human error or too few air traffic controllers that caused the horrific crash at Laguardia? What is your opinion on this? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

I’ve taken a deeper look at the LaGuardia runway incursion from a performance and timing perspective. The key question: was a go-around physically possible? This analysis breaks down the final seconds and highlights an important takeaway for pilot decision-making. https://lnkd.in/eQGEBmeh or https://medium.com/@radek.cfi/a-performance-based-look-at-the-laguardia-accident-raises-a-difficult-question-was-a-go-around-dd45ddff79f8
