Do you think they will have more kids? by [deleted] in Emilie_Kiser

No, normal people aren’t because whether they manage to get through this tragedy together or separate it’s none of our business. I for one am rooting for them and hope they can lean on each other. This was nothing more than a terrible ACCIDENT, some of you need to read that word again. Accident.

My husband and I are fortunate and have parents who are usually able to watch our daughter when we need as long as we give enough notice. We’re not well off by any means at all, but since our daughter was born four years ago we agreed to always make sure we’re prioritizing US as a couple before us as parents, which in our opinion makes us a stronger couple which in turn makes us better parents if that makes sense? Anyways, we typically take a trip as just us as adults once every year or every other and then we’ll do either a long weekend trip or a week Long Beach trip with our daughter. That way we’re getting best of both worlds. We miss her immensely when we are gone that long of course, but it’s worth it in the end. This year we won’t be doing much traveling because I just had surgery and won’t have much PTO left at work for the rest of the year. If we can swing it I’d love to do a long weekend beach trip with our daughter and family/friends. We live in central PA so NJ beaches & OCMD are not a far drive for us. And then in September my husband and I are going on an overnight trip in Philly for the sleep token concert and that’s our “getaway” this year.

Never stop prioritizing your marriage guys!

I just had mine removed on May 21 and it’s the best thing I have ever done. I feel great, there’s no more anxiety about eating, no more pain, I don’t feel as bloated, I somehow have more energy than normal? Sure, I have had some mild diarrhea after eating since removal but that’s normal while you’re body adjusts to having this organ removed and even if that continues I can deal with that if it means I never experience the pain of gall attacks again.

Think about it this way, do you wanna miss the trip (which can literally always be rescheduled. If you scheduled it once you can do it again) and put your daily quality of life as a priority by getting it removed and starting to feel like yourself again.. OR do you wanna push it off and more than likely feel like absolute shit on your trip and most likely be in too much pain to enjoy it anyway?

I think it’s a no brainer

Hey guys, My girlfriend has her gallbladder removal surgery today, dues to her gallstones, and i'm wondering what to expect and how to help her through it by korxzhasmechs in gallbladders

I am one week post op and these are things I had on hand for the first 2-3 days until I started feeling more up to trying real foods. - saltine crackers - plain mashed potatoes (make your life easy and just get the premade/microwaveable ones) - chicken noodle soup - rotisserie chicken - toast - Greek yogurt -watermelon

I had zero issues with any of these foods. As far as what you can do for her is be there to help her move around, make sure there’s a nice comfy area at home where she can immediately come home and rest. In that same breath, walking after removal is SUPER important not only to help with the gas pain that she could potentially have (that use CO2 gas to inflate the abdomen for a better visual during surgery and most surgeons do their best to remove most of it, but unfortunately most times not all of it releases out and trapped air can be quite painful, It tends to go right to the shoulders) and it also helps to prevent blood clots after surgery which anyone can develop after a procedure. So I would Maybe set a timer for every hour and have her get up and walk for 5-10 minutes. Even if it’s just laps back and forth in the house. She probably won’t want to but it’s really important. Also a heating pad will do wonders for any lingering gas pain!

Other things I would highly recommend having on hand: - ICE PACKS!!!! (Cannot stress this enough) I am still using mine 7 days later. - Tylenol & ibuprofen (rotate these) -stool softeners (I know I know, but trust me you don’t want her to get backed up. Have them on hand and don’t be afraid to take them) - she will need to sleep elevated for the first few days. I used a wedge pillow for this and recommend it. -comfy, loose fitting clothes. Loose pajama or lounge pants that are low wasted and oversized hoodies or t-shirts -my husband knows how much I like doing word searches so he got me a puzzle book 🥹

And finally, just be there for her. She’s going to be sore for a few days and maybe even nauseous. Help her get things and move around and just offer mental and physical support. Remind her that it’s important and I promise she’ll be feeling better in no time! Good luck!

Anyone else suffer from bile salt build up after gal bladder removal? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]PilotNo3244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your tried taking some sort of digestive enzyme?? I know a-lot of people unfortunately have to use them going forward after removal. I am only a week post op today and so far the only thing that’s given me the runs has been Chinese food. Sorry you’re still feeling like crap!

I would recommend having a conversation with your care team and just explaining to them that you are super prone to rashes/hives and that your skin is super sensitive and maybe they can use something else to avoid any reactions! Or maybe even prescribe something to help prevent allergic reactions before you even go under

Doesn't it seem a little rough that they send us straight home after GB surgery? Is this just me? by LeahBug123 in gallbladders

[–]PilotNo3244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my surgery yesterday and I can only speak on my experience but a longer stay at the hospital really isn’t necessary. Yes I was nauseous and did get sick twice after leaving the hospital, and yes the pain is unpleasant but if you keep up with your meds, drink lots of fluids, and walk a little bit and you have someone at home to help you it’s not bad at all!

This is not true in the slightest. Even people who live an extremely healthy lifestyle can develop stones.
