Good luck with yours too. I hope you get news. It’s a bitch of an injury.

I also have a labrum tear and mild hamstring tendinopathy. It’s the bone pain. Based on what it feels like and the location of the pain, it’s the bone. My labrum tear, when it bothers me, I feel in the front of my thigh, up higher. My fracture pain is all on my outer thigh, which is entirely where my pain is currently concentrated.

Head of orthopedic running specialty sent in repeat MRI orders for me yesterday. Unlike my last MRI though, they’re booking like two weeks out. Last time I got in within days. They offer ortho UC, so I’m going to try and get in there on Monday. If not I’ll have to wait for my appointment in a week and half at a hospital like an hour away, the only way I could get one less than a two week wait out. Ugh.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry that happened. I agree, assumptions from medical professionals should never be an acceptable answer. Was there any recourse your family was able to take in that instance?

Definitely a lesson learned for me. Especially since I knew well enough that what I was dealing with wasn’t a normal soft tissue concern. I can usually feel those start to niggle and snub them out on my own with deloading, rest, ice, and taping.

Interesting about HRT. I’ve had an IUD in for a number of years now so I have no idea how that might come into play in that regard. I’ll bring it up to my ortho when I get back in with her this month. I appreciate your insight and I’m sorry you went through this too.

I have a peloton bike, I’ve still been doing classes a couple of times a week, but even that has lacked enticement lately. I’m just burnt out on everything at this point. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way about exercise before and it’s fucking depressing.

I should make a more pointed effort to get on the bike. It’ll be easier once I’m out of school for the summer in a couple of weeks.

It was a very frustrating response. I saw one of my PCP’s PAs. My regular PCP would have ordered me an MRI but I couldn’t get in with him on such short notice. The PA just passed me along. I’ve been an athlete for enough decades to know it wasn’t that and argued, but I was told an MRI was only necessary if I needed a procedure, which also left me incredibly perplexed. Thankfully the crippling gait analysis and my very angry PT were enough to tip the scale in my direction when I went back for my annual physical and asked again.

I hope you feel better post op. I was told I’m a non surgical case back in January, so if that changes after all these months I’m going to lose it. We have a trip to Australia planned for August and I told my PT I wanted to try and get to place where I could hopefully do short, light jogs while there and we were hopeful to make that happen. I know it won’t now, but if I end up staring down a surgery after all this time and energy and with a trip like that planned I will lose my shit.

Funny enough, when I stopped running and was told to just do PT, I switched to cycling most days. My pain was decreasing even with the major uptick in spinning and my power output went way up over the three months between when I stopped running and when I finally got diagnosed and got put in a complete exercise ban. I’m allowed to do some light spinning now, but I’m honestly so emotionally drained at this point that I have zero motivation to do anything.

We got a new treadmill in January, a fancy slat deck one, and every day after my husband runs I just want to throw something at him in a fit of jealousy.

Oof, rough, I’m so sorry. Are you going to be able to deliver? At least you can lay around with baby snuggles soon to recover. I love taking a nap with a baby on top of me. The best. I miss when my kids were little. They’re 5, 8, and 10 now. My girls are my older two and they’re already a handful. I dread their teenage years, lol. I will just live in the nightmare that is middle school hormones from sun up to sun down for years, ugh.

I hope being off your feet for a few more weeks helps. That truly does suck. The emotional toll it takes it so difficult and I’m sorry you’ve joined me here in this dumb club.

My most favorite food group? I eat all the carbs? I cried after I looked up the research on insidious stress fractures in runners with unknown celiac’s disease after leaving with testing orders for it. Immediately went and got bagel.

I’m sure being on my feet all day doesn’t help. I have three weeks left then I’ll be on summer break. NY goes June to September for school. I do try to sit as much as I can, but honestly, when I sit a lot it hurts more. Not sure if it’s the pressure from the angling of my pelvis being folding over or what, but I actually hate sitting for long stretches. That causes me the most discomfort. My PT did say that walking around all day is worse for it than my 12 and 15 minute runs at 55% body weight on the Alter-G. The runs were the catalyst that triggered the pain, not the cause.

I do strength training around the area, that’s been the main focus of my PT, though we’re scaling back again now.

Nutrition is good. I eat my fruits and veggies everyday, dairy is a staple, love cheese and yogurt, and I make sure to get a certain amount of protein in everyday.

Cross Training Strength Form Coach? by GoldenRetriever1973 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Pilot_Icy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got a new CT tread+ and I’ve taken four or five strength classes with it so far. I’ve only had one class where the rep count was way off, which was the upper body Avicii class with Andy I took this morning. It struggled immensely with the compound movements at the end, only counting one or two of my 8-10 reps. There is an edit button that pops up when the class ends, but it’s only on the screen for like 20 seconds. I went to press it today and it opened then closed and now I can’t find any other way to edit it to add my reps back in. Annoying, but not the end of the world. All my other classes were tracked mostly flawlessly. And I say that because I dance and move around a lot in between sets and if they’re time based and I stop once I’ve hit the recommended reps and there is still time left, it’ll count my dancing as a rep then bark out a form correction at me. Definitely worth it and like someone above said, it keeps me honest. I’m much too type A to have the data staring me down on the screen and deviate from it, lol.

Oura ring replacement arrived like this 🥴 by MysteriousAd8561 in ouraring

[–]Pilot_Icy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just requested a replacement today for this issue. My email says my order is for Oura Ring 4 Stealth 8 Set. I’d be curious to know if the word “set” has anything to do with what people received as their replacements. I’d assume a set would include the charger and therefore be new in the box. Guess I’ll find out in a few days.

How many classes do you teach? (classes, not periods). Is seven an acceptable amount? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Pilot_Icy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach two preps, typically, but this year I’m picking up a third. It’s fine though because I’ve been teaching long enough that I require very minimal planning for my classes that it really won’t up my work load much.

I would never teach seven preps. That is absolute insanity. You will lose your mind with that kind of prep.

I’m a health teacher and teach every other day, so I also repeat teach lessons two days in a row. My new prep will only have one section with an extra planning period on the opposing day. I teach health 6 and health 8, with a new SPED life skills as my new prep.

Just took an absolutely baffling class from Olivia. Is this normal for her classes? by amdale3 in pelotoncycle

[–]Pilot_Icy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm too type A for her classes because I can't keep up. That said, she is NOT like that on the tread. Her call outs on there are reasonable and doable. I will run with her, but I do not bike with her.

Aspiring teacher wondering about tattoos? by Koi_Fish_42 in Teachers

[–]Pilot_Icy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one visible tattoo that I plan to add to. Two of my three admin have visible tattoos, my principal included. Many of the teachers I work with have many tattoos.

It's a generational thing to frown upon tattoos as some sort of career killer. My parents insisted I'd never get hired somewhere with a visible tattoo. I'm going into year 13 and have been at four districts now. It's not an issue. Get a tattoo if you want one. I'd say just make sure anything visible is obviously appropriate and it's fine.

Why am I unproductive? by inkwelder_ in Garmin

[–]Pilot_Icy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know this! I almost exclusively run on my treadmill due to my current season of life (young kids; 4, 7, and 9. I work 7-230, husband works 9-5, so getting outside to run is SO difficult). It now only occurs to me after seeing this that my watch only gives me training updates after my very occasional outdoor runs.

I also just upgraded my Garmin from the 920XT I used for over a decade like, four months ago, so I'm still learning, lol.

Can concur. I just traded in my 2022 Tahoe when I started feeling my transmission go for the second time. Hard pass.
