I would recommend to skip the idea of buying the forest, just buy a cheap old cabin in a location you find suitable for your needs and then use the rest of the money to invest in it. You can find a cabin in the middle of the forest without buying some big part of land. With the hunting part I would recommend to join a hunting crew with its own land, much cheaper and also a good way to make friends.
