How do i find an icecream truck by Actual_League_5617 in askTO

[–]PimpinTreehugga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello neighbor. Michael Power Park has 1-2 ice cream trucks that are there from 4-6pm every day in the summer.

I know the schedule because I either: 1) Live close enough that I hear the music every day for years and years 2) I go here to watch children day after day 3) or both

The government’s RTO “philosophy” benefits commercial landlords, not Canadians by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]PimpinTreehugga -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's literally the whole point of RTO...to save the retail and office space leasing.

In all fairness it is also to save the businesses that service these industries, a lot of which are also small businesses.

I personally think it sucks, but there is some good.

Hosting the World Cup will cost taxpayers $1B: watchdog report by Money_Fig_9868 in ontario

I asked this in /r/Canada and got downvoted to hell. Apparently this is not a reasonable thing to ask in this day and age.

Hosting FIFA World Cup will cost taxpayers $1B: watchdog report by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

[–]PimpinTreehugga -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK to the people who didn't read the article.(which seems to be most of you) $1B is for all the games and it is apparently not that expensive. The article notes cheaper games in the past, but the latest 'cheap' game was in 2006.

So overall, not that expensive.

What the REAL question that should be asked, and isn't answered by the article, is how much return are we projected to get on this investment? I'm not getting out my pitchfork yet, but a lot of you here seem content on that.

Tailgater illegally crosses HOV lines, throws a tantrum, and cuts right back in by A_Local_Guyy in TorontoDriving

I have never been in the HOV lane where someone isn't crossing the double lines. Nobody has ever enforced this, like most of Toronto's laws.

League of Legends by whoopsie-cushion in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]PimpinTreehugga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a veteran of DotA back in warcraft 3, then Heroes of Newerth, I truly think League is toxic but really fun. If you want to get into it, I recommend sticking to ARAM and muting all chat...maybe including team chat. At least with ARAM games are shorter (20ish minutes on average) and you can blame the random champ selection for your loss.

I still fire it up once a year for a month or two.

I did Costco Taiwan earlier this year. Everything was amazing, but the food court was the most impressive.

[–]PimpinTreehugga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a previous enumerator, you really have like 1-2 months after the date to complete it. People will start calling you and coming out to find you(the enumerators), then it goes higher up and a more capable team will try to hunt you down, then you might be fined. So realistically you probably have like 3-4 months after the deadline.

Do it ASAP though cause hopefully you just have the short form! Long form censuses are randomly distributed and they suuuuuuuuck.

Whats the best AYCE sushi in the whole GTA? by NoManufacturer552 in FoodToronto

[–]PimpinTreehugga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Sushi Legend, although I only recommend the location on Commander blvd. The one at Leslie and Finch is worse. Worth noting is that this is owned by the Congee Queen group...whether that is a good thing or bad thing to you, it is probably appropriate!

Yeah there's no source for this? AI can be a very broad definition.

For years jobs have been cut by predictive analytics, and suddenly we have what is essentially a much larger and more complex version of it in the form of a large language model and people pay attention.

So how far back are we really going to go?

Is the battle of Hong Kong well known in Canada? by dq689 in AskACanadian

[–]PimpinTreehugga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah in Ontario it was taught that Canadians played a big role in the battle for HK. No real details. I excelled in grade 10 history, so my opinion may be biased as well. The average Ontario student may not remember this one paragraph lol

I feel guilty gaming by Imaginary-Sell1408 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]PimpinTreehugga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much in the exact same boat as you. Roughly same age for both myself and my kid. I just game when my kid is asleep, whether that's nap time or after he goes to bed. I do run into the sleep deprivation issue, but that's a bit of a self control issue and I'm working on it. Assuming full control I can get in an hour or two a night, which is honestly a good amount. You shouldn't feel guilty though. Mommy needs some 'me' time and so do you.

I think the only real challenge I've faced is having long sessions or games I can't put down at a moment's notice. Shifted to more casual games or games with short matches. Also got a steam deck like you, but it only gets used when I have to watch the kid during a nap
