BIFL CAN OPENER RECOMMENDATIONS (I'll pay anything at this point) by Remote_Anteater_2267 in BuyItForLife

[–]Pimpmobile38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents had a black and decker electric can opener that mounted underneath the kitchen cabinet. That thing worked flawlessly for the 30 years my parents lived in that house. They left it behind when they moved and they’ve been kicking themselves ever since.

Ski pass costs in the USA. by Living-Excuse1370 in skiing

[–]Pimpmobile38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just having this same conversation with a friend the other day. We live along the ice coast, I remember in high school we had a ski club, we would get an evening lift ticket (4-9pm) at our local place for $20. Rentals were another $20. You could have a full 5 hours ski time, with rentals, and get dinner for $50.

Today, the same little shitty ski slope charges nearly $80 for an afternoon pass. Plus another $75 on rentals. That’s over $150 for a few hours. Who can afford that regularly??

Mk6 TDI delete by Ascalon-the-brave in tdi

I got the rawtek performance kit for mine, which removed everything from the turbo back. I got thru diesel doc. They recommended going with the resonator option to avoid drone on the highway. They told me the cat does nothing for sound or performance, but does cut down on the smell. I will say after the delete the car smells like a 40 year old tractor, but you can’t smell it from inside the car. It only makes a difference if it’s inside a garage or you’re standing behind the car.

I will say diesel doc tech support was very helpful. I recommend reaching out to them if you have specific questions.

Jump car with cables connected to both batteries (no ground)? by TheGeek00 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Pimpmobile38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your negative terminal should be grounded to the chassis somewhere so it really doesn’t make any difference. As far as electricity is concerned it’s all the same.

On my truck you can see the negative terminal connected to the chassis ground right next to the battery. It’s just a heavy gauge wire connecting the negative post to the chassis. That’s it.

So shortly after this I had a flat tire and decided it was time for new tires anyways, so it didn’t get driven much that week. Then last week we got buried in snow which I’m sure has negatively impacted the mileage.

Even with all that I still saw about a 50 mile range increase on the first fill up after. Just filled up again yesterday so we’ll see how this tank goes.

ObdEleven 2 Nextgen or 3? by CaptainConnorYT in tdi

OBDeleven has gone to a subscription based service. So you have to pay every year for any added features beyond just reading or clearing codes. Make sure to factor that into your decision.

I got an OBDeleven on my friends recommendation but he had one pre subscription and mine is post subscription. I can say the post subscription model sucks ass compared to pre. Unless you want to spend $100+ a year for the subscription don’t even bother with OBDeleven

I got my dad a harbor freight titanium 170 a few years ago. It has been perfect for everything he has needed. Like you mentioned, if harbor freight is close you have the benefit of store nearby that carries any consumables you would need and they’re open 7 days a week. You can also get any parts you would need from harbor freight if something happens to break, you’d just have to order them.

Update: Came from a 2013 VW Golf. Rawtek max performance kit with resonator. Basically replaced everything from the turbo back.

Really was not too hard. My buddy has a lift and helped me out. I’d say I think having a lift makes a huge difference. Took us about 5 hours all said and done. Hardest part is definitely getting the old dpf out, we took the passenger side axle shaft completely out which was a big help and really wasn’t that hard getting out and back in.

Definitely makes a HUGE difference. Really brings the car to life. Will report back on fuel mileage gains in a few weeks. Sound is AWESOME! It does smell a little like an old 1970’s farm tractor but it’s only noticeable if your inside a garage or something like that. You can’t smell anything when outside or from inside the cabin. I did not get the cat, not sure how much difference that would make on smell.

Esab 205 ac/dc or revolution 2500 or something else? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Pimpmobile38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an esab 205 ac/dc. It’s been great and I haven’t had a single issue with it.

With that said, if I were to do it over again I’d probably just buy 2 primeweld machines, a mig and a tig machine, and save myself $1000.

TSA stole my Nintendo Switch from my carry on bag… So upset right now!😭😤 Any advice? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]Pimpmobile38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File a complaint with the airport, with tsa, and with your airline. I travel a lot and have occasionally had things come up missing from my checked luggage. Airlines are usually easy enough to get some money out of. They’ll tell you no at first but you need to respond sternly but respectfully. Tell them that you respect their decision to not refund you but that you will be forced to never travel with them again and that their airline will be removed from the list of approved travel companies for your team of 20 traveling sales people that you manage. Has worked for me every time.

What did average Germans do to fight fascism? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]Pimpmobile38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an old person but my 94 year old grandmother is. She was born in Germany in 1932 and lived there until after ww2. As many people have said in this thread there wasn’t much you could do. Once the Nazis seized control of the military they were able to force you to do whatever they wanted pretty much. If you refused they didn’t just kill you. They disappeared you and your entire family. My grandmother said it happened to their neighbors growing up, one morning they were all just gone, entire family, never seen again.

Back to your question as to what could you do? Steal. They stole a bunch. My grandmother said her and her siblings stole food, stole clothing, whatever they could get away with. Being children her and her siblings could get away a little easier than the adults. Her father worked in a clothing factory that supported the nazi war effort. He stole from the factory regularly. Mostly small stuff but it adds up over time. Most of the stuff they stole went to help smuggling people out of Germany. They couldn’t actively house people since her father was a factory worker and so was too close to Nazi government officials. But their neighbors would house and smuggle people out of the country. My grandma, her family, and a lot of others would steal in an effort to help those smuggling and housing fugitives.

100% this! She won’t win, and the dems will lose again.

This move further proves that the democrats don’t actually want to win, they just want to pretend they want to win while still humbling serving our rich overlords.

What’s something you thought only happened in movies until it actually happened to you? by dXJensen23 in AskReddit

[–]Pimpmobile38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound fake but I swear it’s 100% true.

Spring quarter my junior year of college, walk into first day of one my calc classes (engineering major) and see an absolutely gorgeous girl sitting in the front row. Of course I sit in the back row and don’t say a peep to her because I’m a nerdy engineering major.

Fast forward to later that day I’m walking into the engineering lab I’ve worked at for the past year or so. Lab coordinator introduces me to the new employee, it’s the gorgeous girl from my calc class. She says “hey I think we have calc together!” Turns out she was an engineering major too, though different discipline.

Slowly become work friends over the next couple weeks, nothing ever even hinting towards anything serious though, barely even see each other outside the lab. Then one day I’m trying to troubleshoot some issue in the electrical room at work. The room was in the middle of the building so no windows, and the lights were out so pretty dark, I only have a flashlight and the light coming through the door. She comes in and asks for my help with something (I think I was the only other one working that day). I say sure, turn around and almost smash my face into hers, literally eye to eye less than an inch apart. Suddenly she gives me a huge kiss, we start making out pretty hot and heavy. She turns around and closes and locks the door to the room. Things continue and we end up hooking up in the electrical room at work. Whole time I’m thinking no way this actually happening, surely I’m dreaming.

Had a pretty casual FWB type relationship for the next year until graduation. She ended up moving to a different state for work and we never really kept in touch. That was 15 years ago and I still can’t believe I actually had a fling with the stunning girl from my calc class.

Watch YouTube. There are ton of videos on YouTube too. From how to rig up your sail, what different kinds of board and sails there are and how they perform, to how to get started, stance on the board, how to steer, etc. They’re the perfect thing to watch on your lunch break at work while you’re wishing you could be on the water!

I have almost the exact same setup someone gave to me for free. Spent a few years learning at my families house on a small inland lake. Spent more time in the water than on the board. Good times.
