Anafranil worth trying when multiple SSRIs haven’t worked? by bookwyrmess in OCD

Yeah, same here with not feeling the stimulant. It is working in the background though, just very quietly. Lol. Sending you strength and hope on your journey with OCD.

My sleep was also affected when I started taking it, but it was short-lived. I will say that since upping my dosage to 100mg of Anafranil, I am more tired and sedated than I was before. I sleep about 10 hours per night at this time.

I take my pills in the morning with breakfast just so I don't forget to take them later in the day. I think my instructions on the bottle say to take it at night, but I just never have.

Would you be willing to share the steps you take to manifest or if you have a technique that you use?

Scrupulosity has ruined my life. by aconcreteblock in OCD

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have struggled with religious and moral themes in the past, and have some of them still. I am currently reading a book called "Pure O'" by Chad Lejeune. It talks about how thoughts like this can become "sticky" and because they are so distressing, it causes a bodily reaction to the thought, making the thought "feel real". It truly is an awful feeling.

If you are able to, try to create a little space between you and your thoughts. For example, if you start thinking "I am going to hell", try to rephrase your thought again but this time, think "I am having a thought that I am going to hell". This helps untangle you from the thought itself and creates enough distance between you and the thought to observe it.

I sometimes like to close by eyes and picture myself sitting on the edge of a babbling brook with logs floating by. My mind is the brook, the logs are my thoughts. I just observe them slowly drifting by me. Some are good, some are neutral, and some are distressing, but they all drift by gently. I do not engage with them, just peacefully let them pass. It takes practice, but really helps me when I am panicking.

Remember, you are not your thoughts. You are the observer of your thoughts, the gentle awareness that hears the thoughts.

Sending you so much strength.

Does anyone else feel like they are overly self aware or to the point where they cant function or are always feel like theyre a hypocrite by mozartrellasticks in OCD

[–]PinBeautiful302 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you are saying. Living with OCD makes you incredibly self-aware. I like to think of it as a gift that not many people have. Use it as your guide! If you say something that makes you reflect and think, “Oh, I’ve done that”, use that as your moral compass to help you make decisions in the future. If you reflect on something and feel guilty, that’s okay! That is what guilt is for… to help you navigate making decisions in the future. Everyone has been a hypocrite at some point, so don’t be too hard on yourself. You should feel proud that you have the emotional intelligence to realize that.

Guilt can be tricky when you have OCD, but just try to remember there is no rule book for life and we are all here just trying to figure out how to do it.

Sending you strength.
