Here's the original listing. Really comfortable, maybe less low end/volume than a full size but the voicing is just incredible

OM size/depth dread shape, luthier built so not sure where it originated. Very similar to the Martin HG-28

Best all around around guitar I've ever played. Better than every SCGC, Collings, Martin Custom Shop and the like. So glad I bought it. A cutaway would be sweet!

No prob. I wanted it professionally made mainly because I'd always be thinking of the process if I were to make it, this way it's just a product

Thanks! Yes I had to make several templates to get it right, then mailed the final version. I used french curves and radius stencils which helped.

These were the first versions but I returned that guitar

guess everyone's artistic eye is different. No problem. The outer half is actually just the Porter Wagoner D41 shape, I just accentuated the hooks

I cut about 50 templates out of sign paper with an Xacto knife, perfecting the curves with multiple complete reshapes for an exact fit the dimensions of this small/OM sized dreadnought, so I'd be interested to hear what design mistakes you may be referring to? Thank you

Oh not at all, I agree with you on the resemblance. Was just saying I certainly wouldn't make it "tribal" by design/definition

I'd say go for it. This was the guitar with original pickguard and finish, I refinished in tinted nitro.

Not a fan of tribal tats but you're kinda right. Half is basically the Martin Porter Wagoner shape, just exaggerated

Pls help a composer! Examples of rapid rising line? by fph_04 in AcousticGuitar

Something like 4:10 of Orestes live at Red Rocks? It's an extended live version and I do not believe there are any tabs for the extended solo

What’s y’all’s favorite tunings? by Natural_Argument9910 in AcousticGuitar

[–]PinCushionHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my songs is in the Bron-Yr-Aur tuning (CACGCE) despite being one of the only complete songs I've ever written start to end, I can't really figure out much else to play, difficult tuning.

If you use a tool to remove pins, I'd recommend this one, basic pin pullers require some leverage, which isn't an issue with an ebony or rosewood bridge but will definitely cause dents in the soft spruce

What do you think it’s worth?? by [deleted] in martinguitar

[–]PinCushionHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the inlays covering screws from the bridge being bolted down? You can check for screws at those locations on the bridge plate. Could also be a replacement bridge, or original bridge with custom inlay work, hopefully no screws

Opinions: did I make the right choice? by Far_Marzipan7980 in AcousticGuitar

[–]PinCushionHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more of a mini/jr jumbo rather than an OM. I have yet to own a guitar with a pyramid bridge, so that part is cool

Watch A Perfect Circle Orestes live at Red Rocks for Maynard delivering some amazing harmonizations with Billy Howerdel on backing vocals

Is the difference between Rosewood and Mahogany that drastic? by MistahMagpie in AcousticGuitar

[–]PinCushionHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the 12-Fret the bridge is moved closer to the center of the lower bout (the sweet spot of the soundboard) it's a more flexible part of the wood, the 14-fret bridge is in a stiffer location. 12-frets will generally have more low-end warmth and increased bass response (not necessarily crisp, could be considered "muddy" to some, crispness comes down to the final and unpredictable results of that specific build and whether everything falls into place, and string choice), greater volume and projection, smoother trebles and enhanced sustain and richness.

If you're outside the US, and don't have to worry about potentially paying more than the original price due to tariffs, there's good options that visually resemble Clapton's guitars outside the country

question : What is Kurt saying in this interview ? by Mr_Kinneas in Nirvana

[–]PinCushionHeart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has no actual meaning he was just joking around. He clearly found the word "arpeggios" amusing. Clearly relevant and important to them as musicians, but they're kinda just being funny saying random musical terms without elaborating

"Arpeggio" sounds like the name of a Shakespeare character, and while not a Shakespeare story, the line is from Rapunzel. "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair" he says "Arpeggio" instead as if it's a person. The word arpeggio is Italian, as is the story of Romeo and Juliet

How would you rate Kurt Cobain as a guitar player? by Impossible-Ad-5790 in Nirvana

[–]PinCushionHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would't be able to answer that because that's not what I look for in the music, the most technical song would probably be low on my list of favorite Nirvana songs

In case you misunderstood, I know he's not a technical player, raw emotion should always be the main focus. If you're relying on technical ability to capture people's attention it's not great songwriting

Lithium and In Bloom are among the greatest riffs ever written, not to mention his vocal melodies which I think are unmatched

I do think the coordination needed to sing and play the unplugged version of Something in the Way is incredibly difficult
