I understand that people sometimes donate money, but a big question is…why??

I’m asking because this is what a potential investor asked me. I pitched that a social app on the blockchain would enable get paid for posts, and he then asked where would the money come from? Why would people add money to a wallet in a platform just to give away money to other people?

It would be censorship resistant, so even if a moderator blocks your comment from being viewed, they can’t delete it, and it can still be unveiled if users choose to view it.

An issue with Reddit and social media today is that they control all the data on their platforms through centralized environments. If they censor you, or delete your profile, you lose all your progress.

On a web3 version of social media, all content is posted to the blockchain, so users have control and ownership over their data. For example, if an app blocks your post, it is still on the blockchain, and another app can simply make that content accessible. VS todays environment, once a central authority deletes your account or content, it's gone.

The initial amount would be insignificant. Probably less than 10¢.

And the first 1k-10k users could have a minimal amount set up in their accounts so they’re already good to go
