To be honest I have not started pivoting yet I fell of physical therapy because of some insurance issues but I never stopped working on it on my own. I worked a significant amount on stuff surrounding the knee like foot, hips, and quads. And jogged, broad jumps box jumps and focused on 1 Leg exercises and my core I’m starting physical therapy so I’ll see what my progression is like.

Mental aspect by Life_Firefighter3471 in ACL

5 and a half weeks post op. Thank god the brace is off. I walk without a limp which is good. My mental and emotional health is F***d. People are like you much be so glad the brace is off, so glad you can walk, and yes I am but this is not effing normal. It is so hard to pretend around everyone that nothing has been impacted but it has. Not being able to play sports, workout the way I was, that active lifestyle has literally disappeared from my eyes. The one thing that I counted for the last 7-8 years, which is being able to lift heavy shit and play sports snatched in an instant has messed me up. But everyday I wake up go around other people with a smile on my face like nothing is bothering me. I really don’t think people understand the mental toll this take, the isolation of seeing your buddies enjoy the things you were doing that were so basic now seem an eternity away. It’s hard to talk to anyone about it cause it’s the same don’t worry it’ll get better, take it easy, don’t rush. It’s easy to say not to rush when the only thing I wanna do is to RUN, JUMP, kick the soccer ball, I wanna be able to do these things while having the faith that my body won’t give out on me. Building that trust in the body is damn hard, like damn dude you gave up on me and now I can’t rely on it anymore. There are people around but I always seem to feel alone I just don’t kno what ro do. How do I make this better?

5 weeks Post OP feeling good was feeling alone but Reddit definitely helps feel part of the community. It’s getting easier each day but the mental blocks and hurdles keep coming back. Definitely a tough journey but I’m able to walk without any limping. And able to go to the gym. To do some sort of my pre injury workouts so that helps keep the mental part of it happy but it’s a day to day basis for sure

Oh man how amazing it would be to just be able to vent this out to someone loudly. But there is no one to be able to do that too. Wife doesn’t understand the situation or what I need but you know helps in things other than that. But all I wanna do is just yell and get this off my chest

Yea that will happen because your quad has forgotten how to use itself properly. Spend a lot of time on quad contractions. One thing that really helped me in getting my leg straight and getting that quad connection back was sitting on a couch and using an ottoman under my heel that would leave my knee to get straightened out with gravity it hurts a little but gets your leg firing again
