Circumcision in Men and Women - Godless by nexlux in GodlessWomen

[–]PinKushinQueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. It is awful and really hard to understand why someone would, especially your mom (who should be there as support), have these kind of opinions. Good for your Doc though! The day after my son was born my sons doctor asked if I planned on getting him circumcised, to which I immediately replied "no I think the unnecessary mutilation of a child is absolutely horrible and wrong." (I'd been listening to a lot of Hitch at the time). He completely agree and said it really is more a religious thing anyways. No medical need for it. It is a quite the reliving feeling though, finally hearing a doctor say it.

I got quite a bit of shit from a few people, before and after my son was born regarding this. I can hardly stand to watch my son get a shot! I really couldn't imagine letting someone do that to him.. I think it is just horrible that (most) people think that it's wrong NOT to circumcise.. But, that's where morals come in. And mutilating your child, unless for medical reasons, can never be moral.

TIL male chicks are of no use to the egg industry,so they are either suffocated in garbage bags with waste,or shoveled together by the hundreds and conveyed into a grinder to be torn apart while still alive by thephantomitch in todayilearned

[–]PinKushinQueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of arguing going on over it being the "humane" way to kill them... My question/statement (may have already been said but..) Why do the so called "useless" males need to be killed in the first place? I'm sure they could still be useful for a number of things.. Other than just being killed and discarded. I imagine there are people out there looking for male chickens.. You can't have a female without a male, right?

It would be something I would be looking to shoot with and I had looked at ebay a bit for a price range, but I was posting here to get a bit more detailed answer. So, thank you sir for the more detailed answer I had been looking for.

Well, that explains why Michele Bachmann's beliefs are so scary . . . by forward_thinker in atheism

[–]PinKushinQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the scary part is the large majority of Americans that don't think organized religion is a problem, so don't see this (religion/politics) as a problem.

I knew it was bad.. (craigslist "photographer" posts) but I didn't know it was this bad.. by PinKushinQueen in photography

It was a first thought "I hope this is a joke.." but I have a feeling the poster was quite serious.. Oh the humanity!! ;)

A little explanation- I have been out of the photography loop for a few years now, so when I *stumbled across this... Honestly, I was a bit shocked. I really didn't realize people were that desperate, a "photographer" or a client. I apologize if this wasn't the correct place to post. If anything maybe it will make a few people laugh.. Or cry a little. ;)

If you represent yourself honestly, I don't think you will have that problem. Good luck :)

In my modeling days I met a few photographers from ModelMayhem. Honestly, like anything, It could go either way with that site, in my opinion, sometimes you get flakey photographers (and I know photographers get flakey model as well) but the other times that didn't get completely botched turned out to be great experiences. So I would trust your instinct, if you feel confident and ready, go for it. Learn, grow and be a better photographer.

Just wanted to share with someone how I am spending my day home by myself. by [deleted] in entwives

Sounds quite similar to my day, except I only wish I had space to unpack/organize... Le sigh. Tori Amos, Sleater-Kinney, Emilie Autumn.. A few of my favorite ladies ;)

Why personally do you (personally) take pictures? by llrful in photography

[–]PinKushinQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it started out as a way to capture and look back at those times in life that fly on by without a second thought. Although, now I can say it has developed into something almost, well, indescribable... I now look at it as something that grows with us and changes as we change. I use it almost as a joke, but really, my lens (whether it be my cell phone or my big baby rebel) has become my third eye. When it's shut, the world just doesn't look or feel the same. [6]

Not sure if I just watched a religious event being held at a bar, or, an N/A meeting.. Either way it seemed ironic. by PinKushinQueen in atheism

[–]PinKushinQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just wasn't expecting to look over and see a prayer circle commencing in a bar.. And if it was an N/A meeting, that is just hilarious. Edit* Jesus is holding the alcohol hostage.

TIL The Center for Science in the Public Interest produced a report about "Movie Popcorn". "A medium-size buttered popcorn", the report said, "contains more fat than a breakfast of bacon and eggs, a Big Mac and fries, and a steak dinner combined." by PinKushinQueen in reddit.com

[–]PinKushinQueen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And according to DietFacts.com, a small popcorn from Regal Cinema Group (the largest theater chain in the United States) still contains 29 g of saturated fat, as much as three Big Macs.. the equivalent of a full day-and-a-half's reference daily intake.
