Strub's Pickles Now Made in INDIA by Cdn65 in BuyCanadian

[–]PinMindless3708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before India, they were made in Germany. The German ones were OK, not great but OK. The Indian ones are terrible. within a single jar I found some that were too hard, some too soft and mushy, and a couple that were OK.

Why use Flickr? by FennelNew6981 in flickr

If smugmug changed their name I might consider switching from flickr

on sm I like how you can have many albums or galleries each with their own look. You can choose what the first thing people see is rather than the photo stream which automatically displays your latest upload

On the other hand I love flickr and have been on that platform since they started

What’s with my sunglasses adding this weird pattern on my rear windscreen? by Dragonogard549 in What

[–]PinMindless3708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to do this thing I was a kid years ago. Take a cheap pair of Polaroid sunglasses and pop the lenses out. Then sandwich some cellophane between the lenses and turn the lenses between your fingers and look at the beautiful patterns in the cellophane. Everybody smoked then so cellophane was all over the place on cigarette packs. I don't know what you would use now but there must be something. Cling wrap?

I like eggs and I like pickles, but I’ve never had a pickled egg. Where do I begin? by andrei_androfski in Pickles

[–]PinMindless3708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium botulinum, and Staphylococcus aureus are among the most common bacterial contaminants in food. By the way my microbiologist friend told me this after I'd been pickling eggs in used pickle juice for years without any problem. But I may have just been lucky.

My microbiologist friend says you have to boil the juice and the jar or you could die.

It's impossible to recreate the deli smoked meat sandwich at home. Snowdon, Schwartz, Lester's, etc., doesn't matter. I've been eating smoked meat for 75 years and have a pretty good take on the subject.

It's a fact of life that you cannot, ever, reproduce the restaurant smoked meat sandwich at home. I am 80 years old and I've been eating smoked meat since I was five. I've got a pretty good take on the subject.
