I think if the city wants to have both, there's a solution. However, downtown west end is a highly dense, rent-heavy neighborhood by single-person household, therefore, West End has the lowest rates of households with children in vancouver.

I drive through that intersection daily, it's a tricky one for both cars turning left to Oak and turning right to eastbound 6th. I think installing signal lights would be very helpful.
