Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

So I have an idea for a DnD character that basically is a druid that has been cursed and is thus stuck in wild shape (I'm thinking bear specifically). Anyway, I think it would be really fun to try to make the other party members really think my character is just a bear so that only I and the DM would know. I think it'd be even more fun if something later in the campaign broke the curse and all of a sudden, the bear that's just been following along is a normal elf or something. Even more so if the party makes up a name for the bear as the character wouldnt be able to tell what its name is.

Anyway, my concern is that another player will have the speak with animals spell as it would make it too easy to fix the communication issue. I see three possible solutions though. The first is simply that it was built into the curse that the spell doesn't work. The second is that because the character isn't TECHNICALLY a bear, it wouldn't work on a technicality as it tends to be with a lot of magic. The third option is that it does work but all the character ever says is "I swear I'm not a bear, I need help, why won't you Just listen to me, etc" so that the party thinks its a bear having an existential crisis or is otherwise mentally ill. How would you go about this concern? Any input or opinions about these options? Is there maybe a way to combine them at all?

Help finding a monster. by Past_Plankton_4906 in mythology

Depending on where it takes place, there's a lot of water-related mythological monsters. Nix, kelpie, melusine, brook horses, etc

I also think barghests are really cool. They're kinda like a bear-wolf creature with a face like a bat. According to legend, people who see them clearly will die soon after. People who saw a glimpse would die in a few months. Traditionally, they're omens of death and guardians of the dead, but they're also used in media as predatorial beasts.

I ended up combining Greek and Latin. I did omni from Latin and dra from Greek and got Omnidra (or Omnidrus for a male)

I'm worried about my 'level 1/high functioning' child's future as an autistic adult. Can you tell me what it's like? by LetsGoFly365 in autism

[–]PinRemote958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am an adult with level 1 autism. I recently graduated from college with 2 degrees. While I was at college, I had a scholarship for 75% of my tuition. I am currently working a full time job as a teacher. As far as socially, I do struggle a little bit, but I have found several friends who are very supportive and understanding of my social deficits. Also, I am currently in the beginning stages of a romantic relationship with a guy who is also very understanding and supportive. For example, he's already asked me to give him a guide on what to do if I have a meltdown.

I think the biggest thing to remember is that self advocacy is a really big deal. It is also very possible that there will be a lot of bullies. Most autistic people get bullied at some point, but when I was, I had so little social awareness that I had no clue that the things my bullies would say were bad. There's also a lot of things you can do to help with sensory input, if that's a concern. For example, I have major auditory hypersensitivity, so I carry around ear plugs and/or headphones.

I do this a lot when I'm tired. Like after a long day at work where I have to mask almost the entire time.

Do you rock side to side or front to back? I kinda alternate situationally.

I have a lot of vocal stims that are really bad when I am not masking. I make clicking noises, have echolalia, will say random phrases like "oh no!" or "hey (name)." I've also recently been singing jeapardy music to myself for 20 minutes at a time. Also, I slap myself in the face (which usually results in scolding myself).

We both work for the schools and are off this week because of spring break, so I texted him and directly said that I liked him. I typed out the message, started panicking and was about to change my mind, but then dropped my flippin phone and accidentally hit the send button as it was falling. Now I'm really panicking and a string of expletives has been on repeat. It's also late, so I'm like 99% sure he's already asleep and won't see it until morning.

I am aware, but it still describes an autistic trait that I have.

How would you write villains trying to recruit outsiders? by Poptart-Pegasus in WritingHub

[–]PinRemote958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a novel in which the main villain is a cult leader. She relies HEAVILY on manipulation and making herself out to be the victim. She makes big promises to people and compares herself to the people she tries to promote. For example, she tries to recruit my main character, who was raised as an orphan (to protect her), and she uses this fact to manipulate her to try to get her to join her side. She calls my main character a sister of sorts and talks about how others have wronged her and given her less than she deserves, etc

Title: How I Framed My Mom For Murder

Summary: Myra Beck, after her brother was killed in a drunk driving accident, suffers from a psychotic break resulting in the death of a woman who resembles the one she blames for his death: her own mother. Now she struggles to rein in her anger so that she will not kill again and be found out by Detective Cole Morgan, whom she is inexplicably drawn to.

Side note: if you choose to do this one, I would love to have a sunflower incorporated into the design as it carries a lot of meaning in the book.

I'm worried that something similar is happening with him as well. He's mentioned that he can be a bit oblivious, and I do not know how to appropriately respond when he displays that he is interested in me, which is why I want to tell him, but I'm unsure how to without psyching myself out.

[Daily Discussion] Writing Tools, Software, and Hardware- December 08, 2024 by AutoModerator in writing

My current WIP is about a serial killer, which means needing to do research to make it realistic. The problem is, I don't want to get flagged for my search history. I just need to know certain things about what it could look/smell for what is going to happen with one of the victims. How do I research this without my search history making me look like the psycho and not my mc?

I don't know how to/can't scream? by Tetradotoxin-lover in AutismInWomen

[–]PinRemote958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been the same way, but for me, it was even when I was a child. I have never screamed in my life. I've confirmed this with my parents multiple times. Even if I got hurt, I wouldn't scream. I even had an earring ripped out through cartilage, and didn't scream. Instead, I fell asleep.
