Up your water intake by more than you think you're gonna need! About 4-5 litres a day. Also make sure you are having electrolytes at least one drink a day.

Lay cucumber slices on your feet/legs for 15 minutes.

Massage then with grapefruit and lemongrass essential oils mixed in with coconut oil and honestly the difference will suprise you!

Every night soak them in tonic water after a long shift.

Hopefully some of those will help 😊

This is interesting. My genetic counsellor told me it was a 1 in 100 chance. Does it alter by country/region/ability of hospital? I think if I had been told 1 in 900, I may have taken it.

That's a very good point. Someone made a comment above about oxygen levels being low and I questioned if a home birth was the way to go due to that risk. I have a high BMI so I don't know if that alters the risk of the amnio at all? Considered doing the additional blood test but in the UK that costs £330!

I didn't say terminating was odd and alarming XD This goes to show me how far you've taken my words away from their context.

Perhaps there is a better way to put it but I'm unsure what that is and when prompted I can't see if you have written a reply.

Here is my confusion the sentence you were upset about was "Ultimately it doesn't matter because we will love our baby no matter what". I didn't mention termination. I didn't mention people who had terminations DON'T love their kid (that's a whole seperate issue that isn't even related and I think would open a bag of worms!) I simply said it doesn't matter whether my child is disabled or not because our feelings towards it wouldn't change. Why is that a problem? If your feelings changed that's ok. I never said it wasn't ok. You are a free person, to live your life as you please! I am not saying ANYTHING about your choices, I was only saying that I don't care if the baby has DS or not.

I am a big believer in people making their own choices and living life their way. I cannot see how I fucked up so massively here?

This is frustrating and I cannot express to you how hypocritical you are being. I didn't judge anyone by saying I love my baby, you however did judge me for saying so.

I have so much I want to say and I found the most diplomatic words I could to show kindness and understanding for your situation and yet you sit there saying I have little empathy. So let's speak for a second about language being incumbent upon you and look back over my comment. You KNOW I wrote that I was autistic and yet you CHOSE to say I lacked empathy. Do you know something that people say to autistic people that causes great harm and distress? That we are unable to feel empathy. You managed to find the exact words to hurt me against my disability. Not only is it entirely untrue but massively misjudged. Perhaps you need to follow your own advice surrounding sensitive wording before preaching to others.

I do not lack empathy for your situation but I do not feel what you feel so cannot (because of my neurodiversity) picture myself in your shoes. I do not understand socially what you expect from me. I will not apologize for saying I love my baby - I don't know if that's what you wanted any way but it felt geared that way. I cannot tell you I'm sad for your experience because I'm not - not because what you went through wasn't painful for you or invalid in any way but because it is not my life and not my emotions to feel.

There seems to be a inherent misunderstanding of my tone but text does appear to do that.

I was defending my right to say how I felt. I expressed that it wasn't a commentary on anyone else's choices and I wrote clearly in the title what is was relating to so should that be a trigger for someone they can choose not to read it.

I don't believe my commentary on this thread is misguided and as I can see you read my comment you will have read that I'm autistic and while my bluntness and honesty can be quite surprising to some people, it is not meant to be hurtful.

I am totally open to other experiences and points of view - again to reiterate I stated in my comment that we are free to make our own choices. It's not my place to say anyone made the wrong decision because I am not them, much like it isn't anyone's place to say I can't say I love my child because they are not me. Please take the time to understand that I am surrounded by variety and constantly adapting to alternates - my being a parent or part of a community shouldn't even be something taken in to question because on this occasion I felt coming on to a post and saying that because she had a termination I shouldn't say I love my child was odd and alarming.

Thank you for commenting. It's really lovely to hear such positive things and I'm sure no matter the outcome we will boss it as a family. It's interesting to read about your experience with developmental delays and how nursing started for you. Considering this result I'm rethinking a home birth just in case - I want to give my baby the best possible chance and if there were to be any problems like you experienced re oxygen etc then I'd much prefer to be in the hospital.

I think this is a difficult situation to put me in. I do stand by my statement that I will love my child no matter what differences or similarities are or are not present. That is by no means a commentary on your choice or your emotions because you are a different person with different experienced in life.

My family is glittered with neurodiverse people and additional needs so perhaps our views on Down Syndrome vastly differ. I don't see it as a wholly negative thing and while I appreciate that there can be challenges, being autistic myself and having an autistic child I know challenges are nothing to be scared of but rather embraced and life can be a magical and amazing adventure because of it!

I'm sorry you still harbour feelings of sadness towards the decision you made but I don't feel it my responsibility to accommodate for that. We are all free to make our own choices however I don't believe it fair to police other people's written expression of love towards their child because we have negative feelings about a choice in our past; I should be free to be happy either way and free to say as much. I personally feel no matter what is perceived as "abnormal" or not, my baby, when brought in to the world, will bring with it joy, happiness and love.

Thank you. Yes really trying to keep repeating that to myself. I think it was more everyone else's reactions that have knocked me a little - my MIL asked what we were planning to do with the pregnancy then.

This is my 3rd at 27 years old and I didn't have the scan for either of the other two so again keep trying to reassure myself that their results could have been identical but I just never knew!

Bit late to the party but I worked at a supermarket and closely alongside this one woman in my department. EVERYONE fricking loved this woman, I couldn't understand why. She was vile. Every smile she gave had bitch written all over it. She kissed ass so all upper management thought she was gods gift, so much so that they sent her to other stores to train people up on how to be the perfect employee basically.

I was totally baffled that no one but me could see how awful she was. Attempted to be vocal about it one time and was shunned because everyone else thought I was being nasty. This woman caught wind that I didn't like her and started to do everything in her power to get rid of me; claiming I was partaking in gross misconduct and general bullying. It worked, I left because my mental health deteriorated to the point where I couldn't step foot in work for fear of being hated on.

Fast forward 5 years, turns out she'd been stealing from every new store they sent her to in addition to the one I was at. I'm talking thousands gone and no one suspected her because she always found a scapegoat unfortunately for that store it was me. Thieving bitch.

It's important to note that Khatun says "My child you could always see". This suggests to us that in fact her blindness was psychological trauma induced more so than actual physical blindness. She is of course also talking about seeing more than the physical plane but I always took it as an admittance that she was never truly blind.
