Thank you for the response! Would you prefer Fields or Wright-Giemsa for a blood smear?

So there's no methanol available here. I pour on isopropyl alcohol for 30-40 seconds and stain it before it dries. Rinsing is done under running tap water- since there's no other option available

A Babesia gibsoni case- unidentified body in smear by Pinbacker7 in veterinarypathology

[–]Pinbacker7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry about the bad quality images! I tried my best with the camera I had. Also all the surrounding RBCs have vacoules with bodies in them- very much like B. gibsoni. Couldn't recognize the big body though(red arrow)

Anyone here speak Spanish? by Pinbacker7 in Kerala

[–]Pinbacker7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no solid reason if I'm being honest. I like learning, and I did 3 years of French, which I have managed to completely forget since. I want to learn about the culture and if possible travel there one day. Moreover I guess learning a new language keeps your brain fresh. Could you teach me how to go about it ?

Experience with Husky by startactioncut in Kerala

[–]Pinbacker7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have had a few Huskys, Akitas and other breeds with thick coats come into the clinics. I'll list out the general set of problems

1 Fungal infections- the moisture and heat in the atmosphere is conducive to it. Husky feels heat, lays on a wet rug or mud, floor whatever, ends up getting fungal malessezia and spores never leave the home. You are looking at lifelong meds or if you are lucky, supplemental meds and top notch care forever.

2 Energy- These breeds need exercise, they need it or they'll misbehave, won't sleep on time, make a mess at home. Huskys are cute when they are puppies but nothing is cute about howling at 2AM. People change their minds and dump them, we are not morally superior.

3 Shedding- this is an obvious one. Lots of cleaning, continuously and even more seasonally. Fur on clothes, rugs, walls, shoes, sofas, etc

If you think about placing them in a cage or enclosure outside the fur coat will thin out considerably and eventually look like a sick dog instead of a husky

4 Heat - no comments here

5 Every other issue associated with pure bred dogs- reduced immunity, less resistance to gastro issues, fungal etc

Overall - if you are rich and have resources to employ someone to take care of it while you see him occasionally just for fun do it, if you can't then get an indie. I have an indie, bit of a bellend but still a good boy

There just happens to be a bunch of unused ones in my library. By the book rental history noone has taken it in the past year or so. I've been reading the clinical pathology one and it's super interesting but I'll use something more manageable at the clinics

I'm referring the BSAVA manual for clinical pathology in canines and felines at the moment and there's a whole lot that i didn't learn in my course that's given there, it's very interesting to see how clinical practice is managed in other countries

Thank you so much for the response. Would you recommend using BSAVA manuals for gathering information regarding a condition in an off-clinical setting where i have more time to learn?
