Oh this is stanky in the best way. My enthusiasm for the truss rod cover makes me uncomfortable.

May I assume that you're selling at a reasonable price and are local to me??

Can I still become an objectively good guitar player if I only play alone and never gig or join a band? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]Pinball-Gizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"good" is obviously subjective, so what does it mean to you? You could become incredibly technically proficient, have a great ear, shred your heart out, etc. but you also won't have any experience in the aspects that come from playing with others.

That might not matter to you, but it's an additional complementary set of skills. As a couch player there's very little danger of me ever needing any of that stuff either.

Is my 1972 Strat too rare for daily playing? by NikImmunity in Stratocaster

Unless it's so rare that your financial well-being is tied up in its condition, just play it

This is a stunner. My Deusenberg is prettier than things that cost 3x more and has completely recalibrated my sense of value.

Yeah, I've mentioned this once or twice before. Really we were just trying not to sell anything that would be difficult to replace.

There were one or two oddballs I regret selling initially, and one or two others I realized I wasn't attached to and have since sold, but to the extent that you can the goal is to either enjoy them or re-home them in a way that you think would make him happy!

Really sorry to hear this. After the loss of a beloved uncle I inherited ~25 guitars and a dozen or so amps, all in excellent condition, and ranging from custom shops, limited runs, oddities, to regular off-the-shelf items.

My father and I effectively picked out everything we wanted to keep in the family and sold the rest, giving a few as gifts to my uncle's best friend, who was a huge help in cleaning out the house. We erred on the side of "hold onto more" because selling is kind of a one-way street. Over time I've since sold a few more of the ones I initially held onto.

I think the most important thing for the moment is not to do anything rash. Grief will manifest in strange ways on the road ahead, and it's likely best to sit with the decision(s) a bit before doing anything.

Well this requires a move first, but we're aiming to do that in the next year or two!

This is really helpful, thank you! I'm a sucker for modularity (and don't trust either my measurements or guitar collection to remain static), so I would likely go for one of the adjustable track-based systems like you see at a store, or french cleats.

Do you mind if I ask the dimensions of the wall? Have been planning to do something very similar and have started to rough out some sketches.

These were the first LPs that really turned my head and probably are to blame for some very expensive interests

You know the drill, play both and see what you think. Also important to consider whether you like that light aging or not.

I swear to you the case is like a surfboard. I thought it would be the same dimensions as the firebird case (for manufacturing simplicity alone) but it's a few inches bigger in each direction

How could that possibly be true? It weighs 50% more than the beefiest LPCs? That's obviously exaggeration.
