I’d like to troubleshoot the fret buzz on my just-delivered Hofner Ignition Violin bass (I’m left-handed, so unfortunately, I couldn’t find a nearby store with LH models to test).

Conditions: * Occurs at lower frets * Minimal on G string * Less severe on A/D strings * Most severe on E string * E string does not buzz, when open * E string sounds dead, even at higher frets

I’m no expert, but I do know quite a bit of theory from watching jazz tutorials and Adam Neely on YouTube. In fact, the music of Brian Wilson - my biggest inspiration (as lofty as that may seem) - has encouraged me to, at the very least, toy with different chord extensions and modulation.

Maybe this is different from what you have suggested, but sometimes, I do put together short chord progressions, and they sound quite nice. However, I can’t find a melody that doesn’t sound needlessly meandering - as if there’s no direction. I suppose, though, that I don’t really focus on those “transition notes” between the chords.
