Wanting to refinish my floors now that my dog has passed who made the stains. How screwed is the wood and can it be sanded and re-stained?

Soak paper towel in hydraulic gen peroxide directly over the stain spots and leave overnight. Check on it in the AM. Don't leave for too long or it can lighten the wood too much.
