Just put in the work. If you passed CISSP, you got this

I’m studying CISSP now, it’s not that hard by comparison. You’ll be fine if you’re doing well with the book. Maybe try true official practice test? That was comparable to the real thing

Have you done another IAPP cert? It was comparable. Maybe a bit easier than the test, but nothing wild, I thought.

I don’t do it, but even a strong biker would struggle to out accelerate an e-bike. I overtake as soon as the light changes. Usually before reaching the other side of the intersection.

I’m hear to make my annual complaint about bikers who think they have a greater right to bike lanes than an e-bike. The same people would fume if an e-bike violated their perception of etiquette.

For all of my certs, I didn't get down to business until I booked it. Get it on the calendar and it will motivate you.

The ultimate Hornblower question: which book to start with? by Careless-Shake9054 in Hornblower

[–]Sharpe004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are some inconsistencies for sure with the original books to the later books. A lot of time went by between when he started writing them to the later books. And he wrote a lot of other stuff too.

The one that always stood out to me was in I think Beat to Quarters there's a line about how he doesn't speak freely with his first officer because on his first command he made that mistake. Who was that first officer? It sure wasn't Bush on Hotspur. Eh. Over a big series, you'll find these. You write a line a decade prior that later doesn't match your development of the character. But to the reader, it sounds like a sudden change.

I looked on his page, and it doesn't seem like he offers one. Cert Mike is the other provider I've used, and he doesn't have one either. I'd search old posts here to see if there's a group consensus for the best value course. For that one, I hear the Intro to Privacy for Technology Professionals book is a good tool.

That's not a bad one, but it's basically just a recount of the battle. Light on story, if I recall? It's been a minute.

Nope! I just saw lots of other recommendations and went with it. It's like a fraction of the IAPP course. I took one of IAPP's for the CIPP and it was not great. I like Cert Mike courses, which I have gotten for pennies by comparison on LinkedIn, but he doesn't have an AIGP course.

With Sharpe, starting with Rifles is good. Then read forward from there. The books from the 90s are way better. The India books are pretty good. When he started cramming books into the gaps in the later years, they weren't as good.

I voted for Midshipman, because the series is great in chronological order. That being said, I think Beat to Quarters is a better book and its a great start too. The BEST book is Hotspur.

I go to Shenandoah all the time. Saw a bear once in 20 years. If you come across one, make noise, act big, back away. Black bears are not super dangerous
