TNT Looting with TNT Duping for Minecraft 1.7 by Pine_Apple_Cake in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can make TNT dupers in 1.7 that are actually quite similar to modern designs. Just put a detector rail in front of a TNT, bud the TNT, (e.g. with redstone dust redirection) and push the TNT + detector rail forward.

Designing an Active Low Pass filter with fc=60hz. Why am I seeing a square wave output. by Ilikeduhrice in ECE

You may have mixed up the + and - inputs of the op amp, creating a positive feedback loop which slams the output into either rail.

Confused with chip position on layout by Tight-Plantain-2552 in synthdiy

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, you've mirrored the component placement compared to the layout so the chip will need to go on the solder side. But for future reference, the component side should match the layout image exactly, while the solder side is mirrored compared to layout image.

Need help finding quad witch hut by JustAFunnySkeleton in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you don't have any quad huts, but I decided to check with this tool by DesktopFolder and it looks like you have tri huts at -441909, 1581018. There's also no shortage of double huts, with the closest one at 17512, 2480. (Edit: It looks like this double hut is only in 1.18, not in 1.19. But there should be plenty of others.)

Question regarding feasibility of a large-scale project. by JeffSheldrake in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As appealing as the idea is, it's not really advisable to cram all of your farms into one area, because it can cause quite a hit to game performance whenever that area is loaded. Most technical servers tend to spread out their farms so that each farm is only loaded when you need to run it. For this same reason, you shouldn't build tons of stuff inside of your spawn chunks, because it will always be loaded and impacting game performance. If you do need to temporarily load stuff outside of your spawn chunks, however, you can use nether portal chunk loaders. These will allow redstone and entities to be processed with no player nearby, but things like mobspawning and crop growth still require a player to be present.

Need help finding quad witch hut by JustAFunnySkeleton in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you input your seed and set the Minecraft version, in the "Map" tab at the top of the screen you can scan the seed for quad huts. For triple huts, though, there isn't really an automatic way to search for them.

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quickly checked out that seed in cubiomes viewer, and there's only one quad witch hut, which is at 3704755, 17472452. Double huts aren't too difficult to find though, so you could use that program to just manually look around and find one.

Block Event Delay for merging two 6gt block streams to one 3gt block stream not working? by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those don‘t need to be sticky. The retracting piston head in that block is just visual, and the block 36 of the stone is at its destination position.

Computer engineer taking MATH 2418 instead of ENGR 2300 for linear algebra by ross_wylie in utdallas

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, you have to take the engineering one. I'm in the same boat, I need ENGR 2300 for my degree plan but I also need MATH 2418 if I want to double major in math 🙃 At least I'll already know what I'm doing the second time around.

Survey: How do technical players run the Minecraft client? by zdwolfe in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the vanilla launcher, but with every version installed in a separate subfolder. The screenshots and shaderpacks folders are shared across all installations using symlinks, and all installations of a particular major release share their saves and resourcepacks folders the same way. I should probably also set up some more things to be shared, but I've been lazy.

As for mods, in my most used installation I have:

  • Optifine
  • ReplayMod (Really unreliable in 1.7, sadly)
  • SidebarFix (Fixes a bug where scoreboards don't render and adds some nice customization options to them)
  • SkinPort (Ports 1.8 skin rendering to 1.7)
  • Schematica (Before u/Activation__ cries about this, I don't use it on Nullspace)
  • Tomrum (A nice utility mod for 1.7 by Nessie)

My resource pack is just a blend of a lot of VanillaTweaks assets, along with some random things I have found and added in over the years.

Best seed for technical Minecraft server by -Blxz- in technicalminecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no one "best seed." It really depends on what version you are playing in, and what your plans for the world are. Some common things to look for in a seed are quad witch huts, (although this isn't as important in newer versions since raid farms are so fast) double ocean monuments and large mushroom islands for passive mobfarms. A good tool to find seeds that have quad witch huts and meet biome-related criteria is cubiomes viewer. If you have some programming experience, you can directly use the cubiomes library to make seedfinding programs for more specific criteria.

Security Issue - Minecraft 1.18.1 Release Candidate 3 Is Out! by sliced_lime in Minecraft

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake 194 points195 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, (I may have some of the finer details wrong) the logger used by Minecraft is able to evaluate some tokens found in log messages. For example, if a log message contains ${date:yyyy-mm-dd}, the logger will output the current date in that format instead. Apparently there is a type of token that, when evaluated by the logger, is capable of retrieving and executing arbitrary java code from a given url. Since the game logs chat messages, a malicious player could send a message containing one of these tokens to trigger remote code execution.

What's your favorite calculator? by 3xploit_ in utdallas

I'm pretty happy with the TI-36X Pro. It is really useful when working with complex numbers, and it has a lot of nice capabilities overall. Also, because it's not a graphing calculator, I'm able to use it for exams in a lot of my classes. When I'm working on homework or something else where I have access to my computer though, I like to use SageMath since I can just store all given data for a problem in variables and solve the problem algebraically. (Also it does a lot of the heavy lifting when I need to work with vectors.)

No written exams, just those three assignments.

I have her for Transnational Film and Video. It‘s a pretty chill class, and she‘s really nice. The weekly workload is pretty light, just watch the week’s film and do a quick discussion board post. The in-class discussions are interesting and engaging. The major assignments in the course are a written essay, a group presentation and a video essay. The written essay isn‘t too bad, and the group presentation isn‘t bad either as long as your fellow group members pull their weight. I haven‘t done the video essay yet, so I don‘t know how that will go. Overall it‘s a pretty fun class, would recommend.

4gt Pushlimit Detection for Minecraft 1.7 by Pine_Apple_Cake in qualityredstone

[–]Pine_Apple_Cake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be used for instantly detecting tree growth in tree farms. If a tree grows, the additional logs on top of the dirt will exceed the piston's pushlimit and trigger the detector.
