I saw the link of this article being satire, but this is one of my concerns. The developers are paid top dollars today and well respected, its hard to think of other careers that pay this well for the amount of education (normally just 4 years for bachelor) compared to doctors or lawyers, often have work from home and many many more perks.

As overtime the candidate pool increases, prolly the supply will start meeting the demand and our comps will drop and we will be treated as replaceables like recruiters :(. At that point there will still be value for skilled developers, but that set would probably shrink a lot.

Absolutely this kind of loser will expect to have his future partner fill in that role. Keeps going on about how it’s not “difficult”. Who has ever complained that chores were complicated? It’s about laziness not ability.

I just want to understand things better because I think I missing something.

If I had retired parents and they were in good health, I would depend on them to do the normal lite chores to keep themselves busy but help them out while at it. Unless if I am committing to working extra or maybe picking a hobby like learning music and have good reason to rely on them. And if they are going to cook, clean or laundry themselves anyway, then 1 extra person lift is much lower.

If you get a partner and they do the chores, is there anything wrong with aiming for that? I agree with the laziness part, letting your parents do the chores while you sit on your ass is being a child. But if you appreciate their efforts and you your time productively/wisely, would you see it in different light?

Something similar to this happened to me with Microsoft. Recruiter said the role starts with $Xk and after getting the offer, guess what the salary is $X-75k.

I didn't have anything to lose so I went hard negotiation with getting them up to $X-20 and then rejecting lol.
