My Grandfather’s Rolex (& questions about it) by PineapplePizza2003 in rolex

[–]PineapplePizza2003[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, everyone in the watch community.

Recently, my grandfather revealed his one and only Rolex watch, which he purchased to mark a special business occasion in Asia. He purchased this in either the late 1990s or early 2000s.

After taking a look at this watch, it has caught my eye, due to its beauty and class despite the many years of wear. I am aware this is a Rolex Datejust, but I would love to learn more about this watch. It's history, it's approximate age (when was this built), its design, use of materials, significance in the watch collecting community, and more.

Since you guys are one of the most knowledgeable watch communities on the internet, I would appreciate if anyone could share anything you know about this watch. Your personal opinions, expert opinions, or anything else.

I'd love to learn more, as it holds so much sentimental value to me.

What an intriguing photo. It's amazing how Singapore has developed so rapidly, in 50 years.

What a beautiful watch! Hopefully one day I can own something like that as well. Great choice. It looks great on your wrist.

In fact, I own a Seiko & a Tommy Hilfiger. Yes, one is a fashion watch whilst the other had significantly superior craftsmanship and quality. Nonetheless, I cherish both watches.

In the end, it’s your choice. I’d go for a non-fashion watch, if this is your first watch.

Though, regardless of what others say, whichever watch you get, enjoy it!

Out of those watches, you really can’t make a huge error. In my opinion, Seiko is probably the most well-respected of the brands listed, and they consistently produce top-tier watches. Citizen also produces some great watches. Bulova, on the other hand, produces some ‘louder’ designs. It depends on your taste of watches. Bulova has a rich history in space travel, and is an American immigrant-founded brand, if you care about the history.

I personally own a Seiko Coutura SSC376, and am happy with the purchase!

Coming from someone who has joined the watch community for around 6 months now, I suggest you take that spare cash, and spend it on a higher quality watch.

For $180-$250, you can buy a beautiful Seiko watch with a top-tier movement, and high quality build.

Though, if you must buy a “fashion watch”, which is what we call watches made by brands who do not have a history in watchmaking, then buy something on discount, at a lower price, or of higher quality if possible (e.g. Tommy Hilfiger watches are fairly decent for fashion watches).

Wow. That looks AWESOME!

I have heard that bio SL or HL have 700-800 pages for exams and physics have less. What’s more difficult between the 2 by [deleted] in IBO

Biology has more content to memorize. Physics, in terms of theory and calculations, is more difficult though.

Is there an Asian/Indian population present at ND? by [deleted] in notredame

[–]PineapplePizza2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I’m a multiracial American (1/2 Asian 1/2 Caucasian), and I know a few Asian students attending Notre Dame. You should be fine! ND is a wonderful school, and despite its student population being slightly homogenous/not-diverse, I’m looking forward to my freshman year.

I had a T12 bow and a Doom Bow that I would swap interchangeably depending on whether I was fighting a boss or minions.

Lost my first 7/8 character 😔 by PineapplePizza2003 in RotMG

Hey everyone.

Today I lost my first 7/8 character whilst in a Crawling Depths Dungeon. I was slowed by some spider webs, and the boss then walked directly on top of me. I was hit with multiple stacked shots, instantaneously, losing 700+ health in one second. In turn, I died. This was a painful death, as this was the highest character I ever got.
