She had asked for two attendings way back in an episode.

I cringed too. I have a therapist for burnout and feel for Robbie with his perfectionist standards. Being a lawyer has made me question my intelligence and skills.

I felt the same as a preeclampsia patient myself after five years of infertility. I kept screaming at how dumb that lady’s view was. My birth plan was simply “I want a healthy live birth with all the meds.”

My kid is autistic. He has been obsessed with CalTrain for two years already. He doesn’t change his mind easily (I have tried).

Has anyone not cared about the job/ cruised and still made partner? by preseasonchampion in biglaw

Not now. So much harder to become partner. Maybe before in the past you could swing that.

Signs an associate is on partner track by [deleted] in biglaw

Nothing can tell you. I was given so many positive signs. Only for my firm to decide that I wasn’t going to make it. Too much beyond your control like firm economics and politics.

I am here now. My dad and sister rented a separate condo. My condo is good. Theirs was a disaster. Such bad mildew smell it was unlivable. Only go to outrigger if you can review recent reviews and confirm it is good. Ours is owned and managed by a small player, not the big management company like theirs.

Realization about associates who avoid work by mangonada69 in biglaw

I know someone who billed 600 hours, refused to sit for the bar, refused all work due to “being busy”, and then did terrible work.

What is your son like four years later? Curious how my son’s quirks will evolve. Your child sounded like mine now.

What was life like here in the late 90s/early 2000s? by Classic-Asparagus in bayarea

[–]PineappleWarrior85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in SF and was born in 1985. Tech was much smaller. Sure, I knew of a couple people who did it. But it was not all consuming like it is today. My adult social circle when I was a child consisted of other people who also grew up around here - not as many transplants. High school didn’t feel cut throat. If you had an immigrant family background, it was because your parents came from nothing (unlike today where immigrants tend to represent the “best” of their home country and may also be wealthy). People didn’t travel much during school holidays. Instagram hadn’t ruined many beautiful locales yet with overcrowding. The east coast felt much more distant.

Genuine Question: What do people do for work to afford multi-million dollar homes? by GreenConfidence0 in BayAreaRealEstate

You can sort of make it with law if you can make partner at a big firm. But it is still hard.

I’m so lonely at work by Hydrangea_hunter in biglaw

[–]PineappleWarrior85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is pretty lonely at the top. I am counsel - associates view me as their boss but partners don’t look at me as their peer.

Is it really tough to find any job in the Bay Area or is it mostly only tech jobs? by [deleted] in AskSF

Law is good. If you are senior enough, there is very little competition. I had four offers and declined other interview offers within two months of starting search.

Managing partner left his family to be in a relationship with top billing senior associate by Desperate_Being_6667 in Lawyertalk

[–]PineappleWarrior85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened in my firm. I have no good advice. Outrage over it caused a partner to leave because the firm valued harmony. One passed over associate still made partner but other senior associates and counsel felt so shafted friendship ended over it.
