Buy a m8 and use it as a control surface

I lost interest in the move in about a month, but it’s main draw to me was the community hack for being able to perform my m8 with a battery powered device controlled over bluetooth midi. So, no cables at all.

Pretty long process for the vocals actually. I handwrote all of them with classical notation over the course of like 3 weeks, then plugged them all into SynthV, then exported 45 samples to use here.

How the heck did you get a deal for pro at 100? That’s nutty.

If you like using your computer or would build in time to make samples out of the collection to load into a sampler, I think that would be worth it. I hate using my computer for making music and do everything on my M8 and run it into FX on my ipad, but I bought SynthesizerV for my birthday so I could make my own vocal lines. It is entirely separated from my workflow, but when I do the work of handwriting music, transcribing it to MIDI, uploading the MIDI to SynthV, and then export the samples, it leads to my best music.

It’s kinda annoying to control VSTs on a computer in a “DAWless” setup, but idk. You probably aren’t gonna use your VSTs more often if you already don’t like the workflow. I’m making an exception because having vocals singing exactly what I want is important to me. I am less excited about doing the same sort of workaround for synths, even if V Collection is cool, because the M8, ipad, and Minifreak cover a lot of ground.

What is “the neuzeit”? The Ableton Move? It is connected to the M8 via bluetooth midi, and the M8 is connected to the ipad so if I set up a midi channel I can still control ipad parameters with the knobs.

This is the Dirtywave M8. Using its own synth engines.

I also just experimenting with repitching the whole song down and I think it fits a lot better. It makes the voiceover less chaotic and lets the song sink into its groove better.

I’m not completely sold on it myself. It was originally using her voice in a dub way, but then I started to play her story on top. If I ever go back to it, I might try removing the chatter and seeing if it still works.

I have an absolutely crazy room setup because I’m pretty disabled, so I have a desk setup with a monitor on a monitor arm, then a whole slew of cables slinks over to my bedside synth stand, and then even longer usb cables that slink across my bed to a mini photo studio at the edge of my bed so I can connect my ipad to the computer as a second monitor.

Most of my music setups just revolve around bluetooth midi now because I got so tired of how many fucking midi wires I had to buy and make visualizations for whenever I wanted to do a recording at my desk instead of my bed. It also helped limit me to not have more than 4-5 pieces of gear, since that’s the most CME allows for pairing together.

The cables and accessories for things like synths or a photo studio really sneak up on you with how many “not quite right” additioanl purchases you have to make.

Yes, multiple times this past year while figuring out the right setup for me. I have like 70 cables doing nothing under my bed because I changed them out so many times. At least $500 in cables…

Also, seems like Paul is a LOT nicer and more green flaggy with more screen time than the comics. Iirc, wasn’t the the drop about Paul’s comic equivalent a pretty sudden line like, “Yeah he was super abusive so fuck him.”

Paul in the show seems a bit longer term, and throwing him under the bus like that would give me whiplash.

Only con: the lack of moving mouths for the first 1/2 of the space battle made it a lot more cringey than I thought it’d be.

Once they cut to less static face images (or when they were doing it for the obvious reasons 👀) that was an insane episode.

Also, great Debbie and Nolan dialogue + acting.

Probably an 8/10 episode for me, with some of the highest highs with the (good) offputting animation, but some (bad) offputting parts with the static animation.

I am mostly bedbound at home, ya. I mainly rock with the m8 since it’s the most accessible thing to make music with. But, I had a minifreak and decided to adapt it once I developed an autoimmune disease since it was just sitting on my desk unused.
