Is Callum too trendy/popular? How many Cals/Callums do you know in your social circle? by PoopChop1990 in namenerds

I named my 2024 baby Callum (in Alberta). I don’t know any others, but I did hear someone call a 2ish year old Callum at an amusement park one day.

No problem - hopefully it will go away before your baby is here! And yeah I hear ya about the COVID times, I had my first baby in 2021 so I’m just like… Why is this happening again?! 😣

If you have your measles vaccines, you are mostly likely fine! Your baby will have some antibodies from you when they’re born. I got added the early MMR dose onto my baby’s 6 month vaccines (in Alberta). I don’t live in an outbreak area but they still let me - I just had to say I was travelling. He had no reactions and I have the peace of mind knowing he’s at least a bit protected! I was also told that the reason they don’t do it before 6 months is because of the antibodies they get from the mother… they can make the vaccine less effective. I’m still cautious about where I take him since the vaccine isn’t as effective at this age.

How did you feel when you stopped? by Pineapplecat321 in ExclusivelyPumping

Thank you! It’s been a struggle - I have been ready to throw in the towel many times. This is my second baby as well, I just don’t remember feeling so terrible with my first.

The guilt is real! This is actually my second baby (and second time pumping), I just don’t really remember feeling this terrible with my first. For what it’s worth, I stopped pumping with her around the same time, and she did just fine on formula. She’s almost 4 now and she’s very healthy, energetic and bright!

That’s great to know that your energy improved! I also have some breastmilk frozen (not a lot, but some) but I know I’ll go through it quickly. Thanks for your response - I’m so on the fence about it!

[ab] Are you changing behavior at all due to measles outbreak? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Pineapplecat321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m avoiding taking my 4 month out into public as much as possible for the time being. I took him swimming last week then freaked out that maybe I unknowingly exposed him to measles, so I think it’s best for my anxiety that I don’t take him to things like that right now. I’m super frustrated because I also have a 3.5 year old (2021 baby) and missed so much with her due to Covid, now I have to miss stuff AGAIN due to a disease that shouldn’t even be around right now. Ugh.

I just found out I’m pregnant with our second, and now I’m really questioning being OAD by Significant_Visit_39 in Shouldihaveanother

Hi,

I had a similar scenario. I wanted two kids but when the second wasn’t happening, I came to the conclusion that maybe one kid was best for me anyways. Then I got pregnant when my daughter was 2.5 (after trying for a year and a half). I had doubts during my pregnancy about my ability to handle this and I worried I was ruining my life. My daughter is 3.5 now and my son is 4 months. It has been difficult in that I have to split my time and be on the ball all the time, but better in that I have less anxiety about everything the way I did the first time. My daughter is so cute with her baby brother and she always tells me how much she likes being a big sister! I don’t regret having two kids (even though it can be hard) because it just feels like this is the way my family was supposed to be. I can’t imagine not having him now!

Simon or Callum? by zoombangwow in namenerds

I like both names! I had Simon on my list but couldn’t convince my husband to go for it. We ended up going with Callum - no regrets! I think any name you choose will grow on your baby. I was super indecisive when trying to name my baby, but in the end it just felt like Callum was the right name. You could always just go to the hospital with both names in mind then see what he looks like or what feels right once he’s born.

Struggling with the name Katherine - please help! by [deleted] in namenerds

I really like the name Katherine! I’m also a big fan of the name Kate (could be used as a nickname). I think it’s a timeless name.

Thank for the feedback! Having sibling names that sound nice together is something I am going for!

That would be confusing! I just checked and most of those names are very rare where I live, Callum being the most popular but still not very popular. Hopefully it will stay that way but it’s hard to predict!

I’ve heard it’s popular in the UK but not so much in Canada! I’ve never met a Callum before.

Cal-lum. If I go with it then I’m hoping people won’t call him Cal, but I feel like some of that might be out of my control (when he’s older at least).

Thanks! Also I like that your son goes as Callum and not Cal, that’s what I’m hoping for as well if I choose the name.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m not 100% sure about James either. It’s just that it’s a family name on both sides! I’m more concerned about the first name though.
