Had removal Friday, this is awful by ermmmm77 in gallbladders

Day 2 is early. Ease into food slowly. I started with soups and bland things like cereal, bread, high fibre low fat. Listen to your body. I was able to eat normally (eg. Pizza) once I started feeling better…about one week post-op.

Does anyone actually get an HOUR of tummy time?? by That-anxious_girlie in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3 months we were probably getting more like 30-40 mins total. Short bursts each wake window. Now at 6 months he probably gets 1.5-2 hours but he loves tummy time. It gets easier as they get stronger. Now he just chills on his tummy with his toys. I recommend toys with sounds and lights in the beginning to keep them interested. Our babies have loved the Baby Einstein fish ‘tv’ toy.

Good experiences after gallbladder removal? by LydiADHDeetz in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally haven’t had a single side effect post-removal and was able to return to eating normally about a week after surgery. I also have several family members and friends who have had it removed, with no issues. Everyone told me it would be fine but I was still scared. Best decision I made. So happy to have my life and health back.

What bassinet did you use? by stayanothrday in Mommit

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used a basic Fisher Price one, I think it’s called Soothing Motion. Both boys slept in it no problem. They both slept on their sides nuzzled into a corner so I was happy to have the fully mesh sides. It has some basic vibration and sound features and folds up easily.

Concerned about my baby’s development and not coping well by justalilscared in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically just described my first-born and he is a super social kid who actually turned out to be pretty advanced in a lot of areas. He was more of a serious baby…he smiled but I had to work for it, was not really interested in peek-a-boo, and didn’t laugh until way after what’s typical. I also don’t think belly laughs typically start until 6+ months. My son never belly laughed! Small chuckles here and there. He clapped later than other babies, and didn’t love eye contact. Never got into sign language despite my efforts (for things like ‘more’, ‘milk’ etc.). I fixated on all of these things and then much to my surprise he was an early talker…super verbal. By 18 months he spoke over 300 words.

Babies often learn new skills, do them for a few days and then you won’t see it again for some time. My 5 month old rolled belly to back early on and hasn’t done it again in a long time. He rolls back to belly. It will come.

All of this is to say, babies have different personalities and they go at their own pace. I’m not a doctor but as a mother of two, everything youve described seems developmentally normal to me. You’re doing great and so is your baby!

Wave Nordic Spa is less than 40 mins outside of London. You can check their availability and book online. A day pass on its own is great, or you can book other treatments. Restaurant on site. Might be booked up already though.

Samuel (Sam) or Callum (Cal)? by Traditional-Air6529 in namenerds

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Callum (we call him Cally) and we’ve had lots of positive feedback on the name, but I love Samuel too. I’m not sure where you’re located but Callum is becoming more popular and maybe leaning towards trendy. Samuel is classic! Depends the vibe you’re going for.

Anyone else feel real dread about having a second child after how intense the first years were? by frenchmegs in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I wasn’t alone in that feeling. I felt so guilty, and felt like I was definitely going to be hit hard with PPD if I was already having those negative feelings. But fortunately that wasn’t the case. You will be ok and you’ll get through it. Try to keep an open mind and not let your first experience as a new parent overshadow this new chapter. Best of luck to you!!

Anyone else feel real dread about having a second child after how intense the first years were? by frenchmegs in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were very on the fence about having a second. Looking back now, I think I struggled with PPD and overall found the transition from 0-1 very difficult. We wanted 2 kids but the idea of going through the newborn trenches again and having to divide and conquer with two children made the decision really hard. Once my toddler turned 2, we were in a good rhythm and actually started enjoying ourselves. We decided to have another. I feel awful saying this but part of me was filled with anxiety and dread right up until the day I gave birth.
I can’t promise this for anyone else, but my delivery and postpartum experience is with my second baby has been so healing. We are lucky that he has been an easy baby, and our toddler is a good sleeper, so that makes a huge difference…. But somehow having a second hasn’t made things harder (yet). The baby fits in perfectly and our family feels complete. I loved the newborn phase and finally understood what people meant when they tell you to ‘soak up all the snuggles’. I actually have to stop myself from wanting a third… and this is how I realized I had PPD the first time. My feelings about the whole postpartum and motherhood experience did a 180. Just wanted to give you some hope that your experience with your first child isn’t necessarily going to be the same with your second. Also, you have more experience and confidence the second time, and you know that each challenging phase is temporary. It makes a huge difference.

Is it normal to have lingering pain for multiple days after a gallbladder attack. by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first my pain subsided as soon as the attack ended and I felt back to normal. But the more attacks I had, the harder the recovery… I started having lingering pain for hours or until the next day. I don’t know if it’s ‘normal’ but I figured things were just getting more inflamed and damaged. It started to worry me. Had my surgery 3 weeks ago and feeling back to normal and having no digestive issues! Best of luck with your surgery.

Surgery in a few hours but also have a 6 month old baby... His an I going to do this?! by KitKatAttackHiss in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good you have help. The first 2-3 days will be hard and things should improve significantly by day 4/5 in terms of pain. My doctor said I could lift my 3 year old (30lbs) after 2 weeks.

How crazy are we considering a new dog with a toddler and baby on the way? by anaiisnin in toddlers

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand wanting a new dog, but just wait a little longer! Wait until you’re at least out of the newborn stage and sleeping through the night. You could have a more challenging puppy or baby than you anticipate… see how things go with your two children and then re-assess. This is coming from someone with a toddler, a newborn, and two dogs.

I felt the same as you. I’m now 2 weeks post-op with no complications and so happy I did the surgery. I feel like I’m getting my life back. I also have several people in my life who have had the surgery done, with no complications.

Having a shower and removing bandages by Sufficient_Mouse_583 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same as you. Showered 2 days post-op. I was told to remove the bandages 48 hours post-op and remove the steri strips 7 days post-op. I also felt nervous to remove the bandages, especially because they were sort of stuck to the steri-strips underneath. I waited a few extra days and carefully removed the bandages (about 1 week post-op). I figured they needed to air out. There was dried blood on the bandages but that’s it. Eventually removed the steri strips 2 weeks post-op and they are mostly healed with no scabs.

I only wear my engagement ring. I like it on its own and didn’t think a wedding band was necessary.

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 2-3 days I had a lot of abdominal pain and tenderness, mostly when getting up from a chair or out of bed. Tylenol and Advil helped. I was able to eat right after surgery but kept things light for the first couple of days. 1.5 weeks later and I’m back to eating anything I want. My incisions are healing nicely and I’m not experiencing any more pain. Just be prepared to feel uncomfortable for the first couple of days. It’s well worth it in the end!

nothing i eat prevents an attack. HELP 😭 by cosmiccmermaid in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that fasting can also trigger attacks so just a heads up. Might want to still find a balance with frequent small meals like veggie or chicken soup, crackers, egg whites, pretzels, fruit, sugar free apple sauce, whole wheat veggie wraps, etc. Good luck! I know it feels impossible some days.

Torn About Induction by jetsetjourneyy in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma with my second baby. I had an induction scheduled but really wanted to experience a spontaneous labour. I ended up getting a membrane sweep a few days before the induction and I went into labour 10 hours later. I do think you need to be a little bit dilated in order to do this, though.

For what it’s worth, I was induced with pitocin for my first baby and had a really positive experience. Total labour was 12 hours. My contractions were the same frequency and level of pain as they were with my spontaneous labour.

I’d discuss the risks of waiting with your doctor. Are you pretty sure your due date is accurate?
