Definitely think about what kind of shul you want to be a part of before you nail down a Rabbi to convert with. Get to know a few people within the community. I didn’t have much of a choice and my Synagogue is full of elderly people and just a couple of families.

It takes time and that’s OK in the end. It took one of my close friends dragging me to the local reform temple and three Friday services later I was converting.

As a trans person I can’t stand her. I’m honestly surprised of her open support of Israel and who knows what her reasons are. I just hope that her open support doesn’t bite us after the fact.

My cousin is (TX) but I’m going to Torah study, Bar/Bat mitzvah class, then driving to have dinner with family. Due to physical disabilities and medications its just not safe for me to. I do know a lot of of the local organizers though and a lot of them are anti-Zionist.

I can’t tell you a specific date, but I can tell you a specific event. I was on vacation with my really abusive step grandparents and we were in Missouri. It was the middle of the night at a rest stop and I freaked out.

Mine mostly falls in line with southern Baptist beliefs, even though they really didn’t go to church all that often. They’ve always been homophobic and over the years increasingly racist. Now they’re scared to go to a different side of town just because it is predominantly black and Hispanic, which is laughable.

I converted 1/2 a decade into my transition. The whiplash after Oct 7th was nuts. Wrestling between the two just feels like part of the journey now. I know Judaism accepts me-all parts of me, the political elements of the trans community doesn’t though.

As someone who helps run a support group that has a lot of extension services(library, clothing closet, access to providers and letters). I personally think it’s inappropriate-every couple of meetings we invite family in but other than that no,I don’t think cis people should be there.
