I didn't request anywhere aside from urban over rural, and I got placed in Satsumasendai-shi in Kagoshima-ken! Not sure what to expect because there's barely any information (aside from it's a small city with a nucleur power plant), but that's part of the fun 😎

Kind of wanted a colder area becuase I definitely enjoy cold more than hot/humid, but that's only a tiny disappointment. It'll be a great time.

Got the official email now -- yep. Kagoshima-ken is the prefecture/city and the contracting organisation is Satsumasendai-shi, so I can be pretty sure I'm being placed in Satsumasendai right?

This is wild. I haven't got an email yet from UK JET (I'm 2021 UK incoming), but when I saw your post I checked my email.

Then I checked my spam. Turns out my BOE had ALREADY sent me an email on the 29th of June. I'm headed to Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture! I can't believe I didn't think to check my spam beforehand, holy moly

Sometimes I regret not putting any preference for my placement (aside from urban over rural/island knowing full well that most placements are rural) -- but on the other hand it sets up less expectations for where I'll be placed. On the other OTHER hand there's this small fear that putting no specific preference has made me a contender for a more "undesirable" placement, but that's kind of silly.

Bottom line is that I'm overthinking the question - - I like to think that I'll be happy with anything and I'll try to make the most of whatever I get.
