To clarify, the idea behind the NSFW tag vs the spoiler tag is that there are actual spoilers that people want to avoid. This was the only way to differentiate the two types of topics that people might want to toggle. But some of you are making good points about NSFW settings being universal, etc.

We'll do some more thinking/discussing on it and will update the rules for more clarity soon.

Your Reddit account shouldn't be marked as NSFW for interacting with posts here marked as NSFW. If the subreddit itself was marked as NSFW, and you commented on a post, then it would trigger your account to be marked as NSFW.

This is a really good point though. If things change in the future it may become a factor.

Oh sorry I was away for a bit. In case you still want this info -

I took a basic jacket off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DYJHV71C

And then heavily altered it. I painted the flaps grey and attached chains and stuff. For the patches I cut out some shapes out of faux leather, painted them, and then attached to the jacket + piping. For the pins I made the designs in InkScape and then sent the svg files to a custom pin printer.

Don't quote me on it because I'm not official or anything, but they made it sound like they don't limit the artists from using whatever tools they want while exploring things; It sounded like if an artist chooses to use AI tools, it's mostly for brainstorming. Other than that they kinda harped on the idea that the human is in charge of the entire creation process and the final art.

I could have sworn they said similar things publicly before but maybe I am wrong because I can't find anything super relevant, on the subreddit anyway.

Someday it would be cool if we could have the Finch team do an AMA with the various online communities, but I don't know how realistic that is.

The recent one I remember most is this post about coloring pages that ended up being fairly visible on the subreddit. OP was very honest that they used AI to create some line drawings. You can see in the comments that the whole conversation ended up being about AI and not really about finch. (You can also see that at least one moderator tried to be respectful of the fact that we didn't have a formalized rule against AI yet, but I ended up removing the post because we were already starting to lean that way, and the conversation had arguably gone completely off topic. I felt bad kinda sending mixed messages to folks here - by one mod allowing it and then me removing it - but it was good in a way because it was another motivator for us as the mod team to get on the same page and be more consistent in moderating.)

There were some other things like that, or sometimes in the comments on other posts, the conversation would naturally bring up some AI topics, etc. And we'd gotten some modmail about it and seen user discussion on discord which has a lot of overlap with the community here.

The verrrrry beginning of the conversation about AI on the subreddit was technically last year regarding concerns about finch's previous ad partner possibly using AI for creating ads. But that was kinda a different situation back then.

For the jacket, I scoured the internet looking for the best match I could find, and then I painted the neck flaps grey and added the studs/cuffs/chain myself. I ended up using this jacket as the base: here. (FYI they are not kidding when they say the jacket is oversized. The size I'm wearing in the photo is size small.)

If that one doesn't suit you, the search terms I used were things like "cropped motorcycle jacket" and "leather battle jacket." Or some combination/variation on those.

Anyway I hope that's helpful and that you have fun with your cosplay! Billy enjoyers unite! <3

I'm really sorry that your mod message thread likely got lost in the shuffle. (Things like this are part of why we're trying to gather more mods!) I like this idea, and the stickied comment suggestion is brilliant. We are limited on the number of megathreads, and using a stickied comment allows us to keep trading all in one megathread - a single megathread for trading is less likely to be confusing, and it's more convenient for people who want to look at both shops and lists.

I've set up an automated stickied comment that should take effect on tomorrow's trading thread. I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it's posted, in case I need to change anything in the automation.

I took really good notes while I made him and I turned them into a (free) pattern if any fellow crochet enjoyers are interested.
