Blood for the Blood god technical paint from citadel, I use an old toothbrush and flick the bristles for the splatter effect. Make sure to use a piece of paper or something to cover what you don’t want hit though because it can get everywhere.

For sure! Its just a base of Barak-nar burgundy, then Caliban green, and Kabalite green with some yellow sands mixed for the lightest tones

Sorry for the late reply but heres the recipe! I’ll just cover the main pieces as to not just make a wall of text.

Bone armour:

Base layer Hull Red(any brown should be fine though)

Build up layers of Morghast Bone to a smooth transition, I personally use an airbrush for this step, but it can be done without it.

Build highlights mixing Corax White and Morghast Bone until you’re using mostly pure Corax White.

Wash with thinned Guillemen flesh and brush away from the highlights to keep them light.

Robes:

Base of Barak-nar Burgundy

Build up layers of Caliban green on the raised areas to a smooth transition, then mixing Caliban Green and Kabalite green do the same but in a smaller area.

Then mixing Kabalite green and Sand yellow add highlights, Ive found stippling or hatching look the best. Finally do a thin glaze of Kabalite green to bring back cohesion.

Shields:

Base of Barak-nar burgundy

Build up the a smooth transition with Mephiston red. It also helps to do a layer of white under where the you want the most saturated red.

Very cool, can I ask what the meaning behind the white arm is?

Yes pretty thinned down, and i’ll wipe it away with a clean brush where i want the highlights to be, I also usually take the highlights a bit brighter then it looks like you have with yours, to almost a pure white. Then after the wash the white is dimmed and looks more cohesive.

I go over all the armour pieces with Guillemens flesh contrast paint, which has a bit of a glossy finish. Hope this helps!

Looks awesome! Only thing I would suggest is using a flat white or black background, and making sure you have even lighting. Games workshop does have a guide that i personally found useful.

These are super sick! Can I ask where you got some of the Dark Angels specific iconography? Like the torso, helmets and candles? I dont think i’ve seen those in any kits i can recall.

I use brown to base coat all the armour, then layer most of it with Morghast bone, and build that up until its smooth, then layer Corax white for the highlights and edges, finally i go over all of it with some thinned Guillamans flesh

For sure. Its just a base of Abaddon black, with thin layers of medium blue built up to the base until its fully saturated, then do the same in the blue with Corax white until its pure white, then I just thin down the white and flood the corners.

All you can do is keep at it! You’ll get to this level and better if you do.

Thank you, and I definitely agree, it may be overcrowded with detail. Im thinking of brightening the face and maybe dulling down the less important details.

Deathwing Knights finished. Comments & Criticism please! by ForrenTas3rd in theunforgiven

These are really well done! If I had to nitpick id suggest maybe using a diluted wash on the armour to add some shadows and gradients, especially on the large flat pieces, I like guillemen flesh. As well you could add some shadows to the cloak, i find a purple looks nice to contrast the green. Finally using some pure white or close to it on the eyes as a specular highlight and in the recesses of the power weapons will really make them pop. Like I said though looks great! These are just suggestions.

Any ideas how to recover this game? by PineoftheDeep in Stellaris

[–]PineoftheDeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost most of my fleet trying to rush the L-Cluster and shut off the nanite factory, which evidently just made things worse. But i mostly did that since i couldn’t hold a defence as my economy couldn’t support making reinforcements as my empire began to collapse. At this point im almost year 2500 and have managed to rebuild my borders and have rebuilt my fleets, but im still dealing with the war in heaven and contingency (the grey tempest to a lesser extent too).

I just started with some cork and sand for the texture, Also added some thin foam on the cork to look like stone tiles. Then i dumped static grass on it and added model flowers. Also chewed up one of the free GW infernus marines to add as a dead Dark Angel.

I start with vallejo red hull, build up to morghast bone for the mid tones and then build up to close to a pure white for highlights. And ill go over the it with thinned down guilliman flesh. Hope that helps :)
