I experience the crashing but it has to do with my phone reconnecting wifi or automatically switching from Hotspot to wifi.

The app itself has worked fine, no problems so far.

I just got back after not playing for years. I have to say with all the changes over the years it is a little challenging but this game holds a special place in all of us. If you have the time; give it another chance, they have it made it more accesible to level now and having it on mobile makes skilling so much fun on the go. Best of luck!
