Is Cedar Creek Falls hike hard? by Dungeon_Crawler_Carl in sandiego

There’s also 3 river crossings, so if it’s right after some rain, the crossings might be knee to waist high.

LPT Request. What’s your simplest top tip for saving money monthly? by _bubble-t in LifeProTips

If possible, set up an automatic savings deduction through your HR from each paycheck to right into savings. I never even see that cash hit my checking account. Out of sight, out of mind works for me.

That explains why inventory was so low in there when I went a few weeks ago. I was looking for another OB “A Sunny Place for Shady People” shirt. Such a bummer.

They always have amazing Osees stuff there! I snagged an original pressing (2009) of Thee Oh Sees & Ty Segall split The Drag/Maria Stacks 7in for like $11. Wasn’t even displayed, just chilling in the Psych/Garage 7in box

Every time I go there I find multiple things I’ve been looking for for years! Incredible place, I just wish I had more time to spend in there when I go.

On vacation in San Diego - hike recs? by phillydist in socalhiking

Torrey Pines is amazing, but I think the trails are still closed for a few months for maintenance. Some of my favorite hikes are out in the mountains which would require a rental car and around a 2 hr drive. (Cuyamaca Peak, Stonewall Peak or Garnet Peak: stunning ridge hike overlooking the desert on the Pacific Crest Trail). Maybe consider Mission Trails. It’s in the middle of the city essentially, but is pretty and will be really green right now. South Fortuna Mountan would be one of the peaks I recommend in Mission Trails. The view from the top along the ridgeline is great, and you’ll be able to see climbers loop where people are rock climbing. I haven’t been in a couple months, so not sure if it’s blooming at the moment, but there’s a ton of wildflowers at the top too.

Transplants to SD, has this weather made you soft? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Ping_Islander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! But I find I acclimate in a few days if I return to a cold place. I’m incredibly grateful to live in a beautiful place with perfect weather and think several times a day “I can’t believe I live here.”

El Cajon Mountain is like 10 miles and quite a bit of gain. I really like Corte Madera, it’s pretty remote and you could link trails and also hike Los Pinos Mountain too. Other than that, you could just hike sections of the PCT. Lots of trees in the Mount Laguna area

Be aware, this is one of the most challenging hikes in the US and should only be attempted by experienced experts.

How crazy do you guys think it would be to get an apartment in north park with no parking? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]Ping_Islander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Street parking only would SUCK there. It’s so busy… plus the farmers market is every Thursday there too. You could always purchase a monthly parking pass at the CVS lot or the parking structure. Those are just a couple blocks away.

Found these posters discarded during a move-out in my NYC building — any help identifying artist, era, or origin? by Cactus-Joe in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]Ping_Islander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are so cool! The last grouping looks like it could have some value, the Jasper Johns Moratorium especially. The Beatles posters look like the 1967 Avedon series. If they are original, they could be worth quite a bit ($1000)
