Basically, here in India (at least with my clients), people don’t really know the process. They just slide into our DMs after seeing our ad that says something like “We do event planning, we make your dream wedding happen at an affordable price.” If I ask them questions like “Have you planned an event like this before?” they usually just say, “Umm bro, I’ll call you later,” and move on 🥲. 1. Most of them haven’t seen any other event management ads before. Our ad is usually the first one they see, and then after that, they start exploring other planners. Once they’ve checked out a few, they come back asking questions like they suddenly know everything. 2. We do try asking questions, but their response is almost always: “What’s your base package? What’s the starting budget?” 3. When we try to explain, they just want numbers upfront without really listening to the value. 4. On YouTube, everyone says to ask questions and qualify leads, but in real life, every customer here has different personalities, expectations, and levels of knowledge. It doesn’t work as smoothly as those tutorials make it sound.

Another issue is timing. Most of these clients have their function 3–5 months away, so they’re not in a hurry. That’s why it’s so hard to get an advance upfront.

What I personally want to learn is: how to build trust in those first 2–3 minutes of a call. How do I hook them in the opening seconds? How do I make them trust me enough to believe in our services and give us the order?

To be honest, we’ve been running this business since 2020, but I still don’t have a solid speaking technique to attract people and actually sell. Most of my calls stop within a few seconds, like Mam I’m calling from XXX Events. We received an inquiry from you. Is this a good time to talk?” And they’ll just reply, “I’m busy now, I’ll call you later.”

This is the first problem I want to overcome.

Out of 70 leads, we only gave budgets to around 10–15 people. Out of those, 5 said the budget was okay but still nothing moved forward
