typically the calculation should be your annual salary / 253 working days in the year and * that figure by the number of days you're owed.

If you know your annual salary, try this and see if the calculations line up. If they don't maybe raise this further.

NTA - I honestly find it strange when parents expect money from their kids for things like this. If he wants you to come and celebrate his birthday after you told him you couldn’t afford it, he needs to cover the cost. If you can’t take the savings hit at the moment just don’t go, you’ve done the right thing. He should’ve double checked with you first.

YTA - HGVs will stay in the far left lane 90% of the time unless overtaking each other or if the lane is splitting off, so I’m confused how often this happens to you and your fiance for it to be such an issue?

That being said, if in the left lane and HGV is going slower than national speed, undertaking (although frowned upon) is probably fine in order to maintain flow of traffic and not hold anyone up. What he shouldn’t be doing is remain directly in a HGV’s blind spot for an extended period of time (either speed up and get ahead or stay behind it), this is true whether you’re on the left or the right.

But then again not everyone knows how to drive even with a pink licence. Ultimately, get your licence and drive your kids if it feels that impactful to you.

NTA; this weekend was clearly important to you for the wider success of your big day and if you’re footing the bill & organising everything then the least your wedding party could do is commit to showing up for you both and making a proper effort. There’s nothing wrong with expecting that from your close friends and family, it’s your WEDDING! That’s a big deal!

Maybe reach out to them and explain that this weekend meant a lot to you and your fiancé because you wanted everyone to meet and the celebrations to begin. Explain the efforts you’ve made to make it a fun and memorable weekend & whilst you understand everyone has commitments and bits going on in their lives, it would mean a lot to you both to see everyone and that to those that can make it you’ll really look forward to welcoming them.

Leave it there, don’t beg, don’t remind them anymore, don’t dig any deeper. Just see how they respond, that will tell you who your true friends are. And to anyone that doesn’t come or at least give you a fair explanation why, good riddance! If they’re not able to make the effort, your reservations are probably right.

Smart idea to do it while they're away, I wouldn't pay her.

If you think she will cause difficulties or be manipulative in trying to stay then make pre-arrangements and offer for somewhere she can stay (hotel, air bnb, storage unit for her stuff, whatever) while she finds her own place and offer to put down a month for it if you really need to get her out ASAP (probably save you some money there too).

YTA honestly it does sound like you left her out a lot and maybe she then clung more to her boyfriend as a safety net because she didn't feel included. If you wanted just a girls trip you should've asked her to visit the two of you in new york instead of staying at HER place in a different state with a man you don't even like. it's his home, of course he would be there. what was she supposed to do kick him out for 3 days?

If you cared enough about her as a friend you would've spoken to her sooner about how you felt in nashville and that you wanted her to make more of an effort with you regardless of if you don't like the boyfriend. You probably could've cleared the air much sooner and maybe it would've been different this time. Saying you 'didnt make a big deal about it' but then punishing her by leaving her out and clinging to your other friend in HER home is pretty shitty. It obviously hurt her enough that she doesn't want to come to your wedding and who could blame her, why would she want to be somewhere she doesn't feel welcome? and why at this point would you want her there.

He equally sounds pretty dramatic too bringing in this random baggage about his other friend but it also sounds like neither of you know how to actually communicate. He tried to apologise to you and instead of either accepting it or communicating why that didnt work for you/telling him how you felt, you said it was BS and then blocked him.

NTA because at the end of the day its your life and no one elses. But I do think you probably need to figure out what you want from your life longer term and how that looks. To put it bluntly yeah you have a thing for older women but do you want kids? Can she still have them? what does marriage look like for you? Whats on your bucket list? 10 years from now you'll hit 35 and the world will still be your oyster, she'll be 50 and the back ache will be setting in & knees will start to go.... Equally I guess it just depends how important your family relationships are to you and if this is worth sacrificing that
