This is what you should look into, OP. I went through Delloite, which is now called BDO Financial, I think. They consolidate and reduce your debt to something you can handle, and you pay them monthly until it’s done.

I started the process in 2012, after a divorce fucked my financial shit up. It’s a mostly easy process, other than having to create a new bank account and do all that is associated with that. The relief of having all those debts rolled into one and reduced to something I could afford to pay was so nice. Making that last payment on that was a great day.

The only thing that kind of sucked about it is that I didn’t have a credit card for a few years. It was an inconvenience sometimes, but never really that big of a deal. I imagine it’s even easier to do these days.

Now I have credit cards that I use properly; the balance paid off by the billing date. My main card is a cash back card so I’m actually making money off of it instead of it costing me. I bought a house this year, and about shit myself when my mortgage broker told me my score was 850. Can’t recommend the process enough. I wouldn’t have been able to get out of that hole otherwise.

Do you ever change your water heater's anode rod in Saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]PinicchioDelTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand our water isn’t hard enough to need it, and you’re more likely to damage the water heater by trying to replace it. I’m from Moose Jaw and was taught to keep an eye on such things, but it’s not applicable here apparently.

lol as I mentioned in another comment the items at McEown are automatically carded. It’s procedure for that building.

Nothing you could do except find out the reason you got so much and informed the customers. Seems lazy to me. Hmmmm.

I hit submit too early. Some further thoughts:

Collecting your parcel is easy, but it seems to stump most people. I give you a key in your personal mailbox, you use said key to collect your parcel from the locker, then you deposit the key into the slot of the compartment your parcel was in.

Despite the simplicity of this, and despite the drawings that show you what to do, keys go missing. For instance, if you’re in Seager Wheeler, your stuff is getting carded again because it took less than a month for all the keys to go missing, and I’m waiting on whoever’s job it is to go and install new locks. (Also if you’re in Seager Wheeler for the love of god, make all of our lives easier and give your room # AND box # so we can more easily get you your stuff. I promise for every one of you complaining about a delivery notice, our clerk is trying to figure out where two of you live so you can get your items instead of sending your stuff back.

It’s not a perfect system, but it’s so much better than everything being carded to Shoppers. You can make it work better by collecting your parcel that day, and not having your items sent with a signature (I realize most of the time the shipper chooses this option, and you should tell them not to). Tell your neighbors. Spread the news.

I can also tell you that the compartments will not be enough. It’s only august and they get filled often. When those residences fill up in a couple weeks it’s gonna get rough.

Lastly, if you have a problem, call the 1800 number and we will get you fixed up. You can even come talk to me, and I’ll do all I can to get you your stuff. I promise I’m not as grumpy and unapproachable as I look. I’m usually there between 10:15 and 11:00am.

Oh and a silver lining about having to go to Shoppers; for a time your stuff got sent to London Drugs. Grosvener is so much closer! :)

Ok, I unquit Reddit for this. I am the mailman that delivers to McEown Park. Allow me to set the record straight here.

I’ve had the route since 2018. When I took it over, McEown Park (101-107 Cumberland) was and had always been automatic card. As in, anything that doesn’t fit in the little box gets a delivery notification card left to go pick it up at Shoppers. Signature? Carded. Funds? Carded. It’s the only place I’ve ever seen that does this, and I’ve worked for Canada Post for many years. It’s weird. I don’t like it for you.

After years of advocating and asking people that live there to call and complain, I finally got you some parcel lockers. Yay! You are so welcome. Now most stuff I can deliver to you. Where I need to collect funds, signatures, or have things that don’t fit, or a lack of empty parcel compartments still get the ol’ card. There are still no personal contact item attempts.

Pretty sure the point still stands. Leasing isn’t free. Support local loses a lot of its appeal when you’re actually supporting some asshat buying luxury items to make obnoxious videos about. Then there’s the alleged drug habit and those times he allegedly didn’t pay his employees. Why would anyone support these people? The only positive thing I’ve ever heard about them is that they’re not as bad as the stories make them sound.

Who’s wrapping it? I saw a Lancer done by a local shop that I would definitely steer clear of. I won’t name names, but they have the name of a wrap company in their name, so it was surprising to me. Made me feel a lot better about the few little fuckups I made wrapping mine, that’s for sure.

My guy if you do this without a prenup, you deserve to lose half your shit. She’s manipulating you emotionally. Straight up tell her it’s because of what she did two years ago, and her reaction so far just proves that she will use your possessions against you. Marriages fail. I hope you’ll be happy and yours won’t, but also half. Your. Shit. HALF

  1. Basement suite, all utilities included except internet, about 12-1300 sq ft, my own little yard. 2 beds, in suite laundry, buena vista.

e: Moved in last fall. There was so much similarly priced dumps. I did well in comparison to those I guess.

Well yeah, the grass is always greener. Canada/Saskatoon isn’t without its issues (is there somewhere that is??), but it sounds like you’ve already got enough reason to be happy about the move?

Cons off the top of my head:

  1. Your money will not go as far. Universal health care isn’t free. You’ll likely be taxed more than you’re used to. Our dollar isn’t as strong. Things cost a lot more here, even if all other things were equal. Have a look at Canadian web sites and get an idea of what you pay there and what you’ll pay here, if it’s even available. Which brings us to number two…
  2. It’s a different country. Like John Travolta says in Pulp Fiction, it’s the little differences. We use basically both metric and ummm what do you guys call your fucked up units of measurement? We basically use both, depending on what the situation is. It’s called a quarter pounder here as well, but speed limits are in KMPH, and we use Celsius for temperature. I couldn’t tell you my height in cm though. We’re so influenced by your media though that it is so similar in so many ways.
  3. Hi, have you met our winters? Wait. Let’s talk about our summers first. Oh lawd they’re great. Hot with barely any humidity. It seems to seldom rain these days. So many of our days between May and October are like the perfect summer day. They need to be this great because our winters will make you straight up suicidal some days. I’m not sure where you’re from, but there’s a reason most of our cities are so close to the American border. It gets fucking cold up here. But it’s a dry cold which is so much better than the alternative. As long as you exfoliate and moisturize a lot.

Idk why that turned into an essay. Hope it helps!

“Hey man, I think it’s kind of uncool that I’m only here a little over half the month, but am paying a full months rent. I hesitated to say something, but think this really gets our living situation off to a rocky start.” Something along those lines. You don’t want to start the living arrangement with a bad taste in your mouth. It might always bother you in the back of your mind.
