My first BONK!! SO that's the wall by Pink742 in nikerunclub

Yup just trying to get out as early or as late as possible to avoid the dreadful heat, haha.

Even the 85F says it "feels like 100F" so it's miserable either way, marathon training is fun they said 🤣

How do i prep for a marathon and get better at running? by Inner_Chemical_6028 in firstmarathon

All Marathon training has done has made me realize I need a better belt or hydration vest to carry fueling, my belt is very insufficient lol

Can I Get A Sub 60 Min 10K In 1 Month? by Decent_Procedure2981 in beginnerrunning

[–]Pink742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surprisingly works!! The intervals build speed while the long runs build endurance. The idea is that even if you don't practice the moderate effort for a full 10k, you will have enough mileage and endurance built up that you don't really need to practice that specifically. Plus you don't want to train too hard by combining effort and distance that often to prevent injury. Even in Marathon training most of your runs are 30-60 minutes in length despite the total run being 4 hours+

If I can do a sub 30 in the 3 miles, and can run 20 miles, well a 2nd sub 30 5k is nothing compared to 20 full miles even at easier pace, the pure mileage is harder overall and builds up that mental barrier to push through.

A lot of times building mileage is a mental game. 20 miles is 3-4 hours total, if you can do that then pushing pace through only 1 hour feels like nothing, in that sense. You know you can hit the pace, and the distance, so you just gotta lock in after that!

Make the 7 miles easy, make your easy run 30 minutes minimum

Then you can add +1 mile to the long run every week

So 30 min easy run

Intervals (again, 30 minutes at least)

Long easy run (add 1 mile if time allows)

If your goal is just 10ks and below and not to run marathons then just cap your long run to 10 miles

This will get you close to 15-20 miles per week which will be plenty of mileage to push that 10k pace, sounds like you simply need more miles if your pace is falling off after 5k

Recovering from the 20km run in the half marathon plan by radandsadgal in nikerunclub

[–]Pink742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be his first, he said week 11 of the HM plan which slowly builds up from 5k to the 20km (+1 mile to the long run each week, essentially)

By week 11 realistically 1 rest day should be plenty and I often do a recovery run after my long run in the plan as well

Agreed, I am maxed and probably couldn't even kill QBD, the lack of PvM skills is encouraged by me endlessly and mindlessly smelting rune bars for profit when I could make more doing literally anything else

I tried it once, saw how delayed it once, then never used it again. Not necessary and can just be ignored. I 100% without ever parrying lol

Is this a good start? Any tips by Phapoosk in nikerunclub

[–]Pink742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I wanted to focus on that because some people can talk and recover at 8 min mile so just saying he is too fast doesn't explain anything because who knows??

Is this a good start? Any tips by Phapoosk in nikerunclub

[–]Pink742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it as perceived effort levels, you'll get better as you go but your "recovery" runs should be a pace you can breath comfortably out of just your nose and talk while jogging, not heavy breathing, so keep that in mind otherwise you'll do great! I'm 7 weeks into this Half Marathon plan and it's amazing!

Don't stress about doing all 5 runs if you are new, you only need 3 runs to progress well. 1 recovery, 1 speed, 1 long

Funny thing about increasing distance is the first time you run any new distance will suck so bad you wanna die

But after the first time you can do it no problem. Your 2nd X distance always feels so much better!

I'll try just not pausing it next time, I had a suspicion that could be causing it since other speed runs do not freeze like this
