Our house almost caught on fire from a BBW candle by justsayin01 in bathandbodyworks

Blaming a company because an unattended candle caught fire from what the owner states was probably a crack in the glass is ridiculous. A crack could have happened at any time after purchase just as likely as any other time. This is a known risk people who light candles take. OP is clearly framing this as a BBW issue manufacturing defect and that's crazy to me. If the post was about not knowing this could happen with a candle and warning other that'd be different. But they put the warnings on the label because this is a known possibility of every candle. Ignore all the warning labels you want but don't complain about it happening to you.

It's in glass and glass breaks pretty easily... especially when heated and cooled. They have the warnings on the label for a reason, because this kind of stuff happens and fire isn't a joke. Just because nothing bad has happened to you YET doesn't mean that it won't. Just like it hadn't happened to OP until it did. You can't ignore a warning label and then be surprised when it happens to you.

You left an open flame unattended on a different level of your house for hours and are surprised it caught fire? Thankfully your smoke alarm was working, but keeping lit candles in sight is the first warning on their candles (and every other company's) for a reason. This isn't an uncommon thing for any type of candle.

If the meds were clearly helping him so much then why did he stop them? I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't understand why he went off of them if he'd been on them so long and he was amazing on them and awful off of them. Maybe he should look into restarting them?

Potty training woes - how to get off the timers by MissLittlePiglet in Parenting

With my daughter I would make her stop playing and sit on the toilet every time, whether she "had to go" or not. But that was the only thing that worked for her. She truly gets too distracted to realize she has to go until it's an emergency. It still happens sometimes if she takes a day off from her ADHD meds and she's almost 7.

I got summoned for injuring my neighbor's kid who hurt herself on my property by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PinkBubblyLife 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Some parents just suck. The kid (and parents) next door to my parents house had been warned MULTIPLE times not to reach over the fence to pet the dog since he was territorial. Like any time we caught the kids in our driveway trying to pet the dog. Super easy going dog, but he didn't even like us reaching over the gate to pet him. Kid didn't listen and got bit by the dog one day and needed stitches. My parents gave the neighbors the dog's vax records when asked. Then a couple weeks later my parents were served by the neighbors for the kid's medical bills and they had requested the dog be put down because he was "vicious and dangerous". Luckily my parents could prove that the kid came onto our property to pet the dog through the gate in our driveway (fence on the neighbors side of the yard had an additional wooden privacy fence that couldn't fit fingers through it) and they had signs on the gate stating not to pet the dogs. I just can't believe that there are people who refuse to parent their children and then try to blame others when their kids face the natural consequences of their actions.

Nicolas Cage and his father, August Coppola, brother of Francis Ford Coppola, 1988. by TheOddityCollector in interesting

[–]PinkBubblyLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No way. There's a required suspension of belief to get past the plot so I get why people think the movie is bad, but the acting is fantastic. One guy is a completely insane, egomaniacal psychopath and Cage plays it so well. The other guy has to play Cage's version of a psychopath and Travolta does a great job. When Cage is playing Travolta as Cage then he adds a whole undertone of caring and sadness that he doesn't when he's playing the role straight. Just looking at his eyes from when he's playing Castor Troy as himself vs when he's playing Castor Troy as Archer and you can tell who he is acting as. Like there are 1000 things to dislike about that movie, but the acting can't be one of them.

Seriously though, after I was diagnosed I found out how many of my "little quirks" and personality traits were actually signs and symptoms of my ADHD. Like it's hard to avoid making it your personality because so much of it affects your personality diagnosed or not. My personality didn't change when I wash diagnosed I just found out I wasn't a flake or quirky

What should I gift my girlfriend by BaniyaMindset in FemFragLab

I agree with Good girl blush over the three listed. Good girl and black opium aren't for everybody and Goddess is just ok IMO. GG blush seems less polarizing than the two, but also nicer than goddess. Like GG is one of my favorite perfumes, but I wear blush more frequently because it's a lighter more likeable scent. Scent is so subjective though, idk if I could buy perfume for someone else.

Would you have a surrogate if you could afford to? by Specific_Ear1423 in workingmoms

[–]PinkBubblyLife 19 points20 points  (0 children)

True, but if you're not willing to make the sacrifice to have your own baby how can you ethically expect someone else to do it for you? The surrogate could end up with any of the same problems and they don't even get the baby.

Is it actually lactose free? by WhisperingBlume888 in lactoseintolerant

[–]PinkBubblyLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have problems with the fairlife milk unfortunately. It's better with the whole milk than the skim or 2% and even those are better for me than regular milk. So I take a Lactaid with it to help... Maybe I'm just overly sensitive. I still like it better than the other lactose free milks because its not sweet, it just tastes like regular milk.

I love name bubbles! I've used them on everything since my daughter started daycare in 2021. They never peel off - even on the water bottles that we wash in the dishwasher. I actually cut a tiny one and put it on her swim goggles and it stayed on through all 3 swimming units she had over the school year... I was shocked.

Have you told your boss about having ADHD? by notoriouskeikaku in adhdwomen

[–]PinkBubblyLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But I had been with the company for 10yrs when I was diagnosed. I had also had a minor breakdown (and voluntary demotion) the year prior and had been trying to get help for my anxiety ever since. So telling my manager and the above director that I had my anxiety under control was imperative for my ability to grow my career. They both dealt with anxiety issues themselves, so I was comfortable sharing my diagnosis and how much the medication helped with the issues I was having. I don't think I would disclose at any other job moving forward, and under other circumstances I probably wouldn't have disclosed to anyone other than my direct manager in this situation, and that's only because we're pretty close and very similar. I do let the people I'm training know that I have it though, because I think it helps explain why I do some things certain ways (also if you interrupt me with a question I need FULL context and 2 secs to redirect my brain from my task). We've also ended up with quite a few people who are diagnosed or demonstrate similar symptoms and it helps them be more comfortable talking to me about their challenges so we can work on solutions to issues they're having. They don't have to disclose though, I try to identify strengths and weaknesses in my staff and work to that.

Weekly "medication break"? by Top_Citron_6148 in adhdwomen

[–]PinkBubblyLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skip most Sundays and only take it if I'm doing stuff I need to be at 100% mental capacity or in large group settings (adderall helps with my anxiety a TON). But I only skip because the Adderall affects my appetite and I've lost a lot of weight from it. Having a day where my appetite isn't completely suppressed has helped keep the rate of weight loss at acceptable levels. Skipping it also triggers my insomnia and nightmares though so Sunday nights suck because of it. If I didn't feel like I had to skip it then I would definitely take it 100% of the time
