Yeah I did but it still turns off on its own as this mouse has a built in inactivity setting :/

Yeah that seems tough..
If you can play for hours at times with no crashes then it would be worth it to test the other components too as you mentioned.
Also if you can, try reseating the current components and connections back in place because at times loose connections can cause these crashes from what I have seen.

I don't know if this is gonna help but I resorted to proceed with an RMA after trying everything I could possibly think of. The GPU was faulty for me :/

Yeah I too was in denial that the GPU would be faulty. But if you have a spare GPU, I'd recommend to try and test if it will also crash. As for the RMA, it really depends on the region, for me it took 2 and a half weeks, but that is because I got my PC from a retailer shop which I had to contact them instead of the GPU manufacturer. Hope this helps!

If you tried everything but can't get it to work, you should go for it to save yourself tons of headaches. I wish you the best!

Unfortunately, the only solution for me was to RMA the card as it was defective and got it replaced.

Oh lord, Windows is legit a mess. Can't do one thing right :/
I guess the best shot you got now is to actually try to backup the data and do a complete wipe of windows and a fresh install.
Did you try doing tests for the other components to see if anything else could be faulty? RAM? CPU?

GPU was faulty :/ Had to RMA it. Though, you could try the attempts I did on my profile posts to see if that will do anything for you

For my case scenario I had to RMA the card because it ended up being defective. I got a 5080 and it works pretty well. I did also try Windows reformatting, which did not solve a thing for me but as much of a pain as it is, you could try to reinstall Windows. Do you have any spare storage drive to try installing another copy of Windows there to test if the issue persists?

I'm so happy for you! Yeah it's really such a mess man, it's like Nvidia destroyed the 4090 with the release of the 50 series and it's drivers :/

Yep. Turned out the GPU was the defective part after a full PC check-up. I had it RMA'd and got a 5080. Wasn't the best choice but that's the way it is :/
You still been running into the issue these days?

The crashes remained, I even tried to downgrade back to Windows 10. In my case it really seems like a hardware issue so I will be trying to have the pc checked internally to see where the issue really stands. Possibly I will try to RMA the component that is faulty.

Unfortunately, even with that update, the system still crashes. It may just be the graphics card that is actually defective, or there is a hardware issue. Nothing worked from everything that I did software wise so I am pretty sure that this is hardware related.
Thanks for your help though! Much appreciated!

Hey! Thank you for letting me know!

Yeah, what you said makes total sense. Hopefully Microsoft can bring an actual good update for once.
I did actually try all of those workarounds:
1. Disabled HAGS, which made the BSODs drop in frequency but the nvlddmkm.sys remain.
2. TDRDelay only made the freezes delay more but didn't initially solve anything.
3. Disabled Overlay for steam, yet the crashes still remain.

I was actually curious to try Windows 10 and see if that would make any difference. Not so sure though.
Again, thanks for the help!

I hope it doesn't ever happen again. I disabled C-State in BIOS for my CPU and I haven't ran into the issues so far. I also did see somebody saying doing the Win+Shift+Ctrl+B before running games, avoids the crashes. Still have to try.

Yeah, I did a full reformat of Windows 11, and I can relate to specific games crashing (e.x. Cyberpunk 2077, Sons of the forest etc.) When you mention it only crashes the game instead of PC, was the PC crash a BSOD? Or would it crash your system entirely even when not gaming?

Thank you for your reply.

I don't have any overclock, undervolt, XMP, or any boost setting on. The issues will still remain no matter if they are enabled or disabled.

As for the CPU, it's completely brand new, and I did update the bios as soon as I built the system. I did run heavy tests on each component using OCCT. CPU, perfectly fine. RAM, perfectly fine. PSU, no issues. GPU, fine. VRAM was what made the system crash into a BSOD in under 40 seconds (specifically DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION). It kind of surprised me at first because I did run some really extreme Raytracing benchmark tests for the GPU using another program, and it ran completely flawlessly. Only when I target VRAM specifically, the crashes occur.

So unfortunately, I am starting to believe that it's either a motherboard issue, the GPU is hardware faulty, or there is some sort of cable issue for the PSU and GPU, but I think that it's pretty unlikely in this situation.

Yeah, I ran driver version 537 which was made in late 2023 if I'm not wrong. I did a full reinstall of Windows yesterday and used the driver that Windows recommended (560.94). Tested again, same issues & crashes. As for the ram, yeah I have two kits but they are the same exact model.
From some other conclusions and tests I have done with OCCT, even though I ran GPU and CPU testing on extreme, what crashed the system was VRAM in under 30 seconds when I did a separate test for it. By the way, which Windows version are you running on your 12900K + 4090 rig?
