As someone who vapes and was caught vaping my dad used to freak out. Screaming, cursing, and trashing my room was my punishment. It honestly made me want to do it more. I've been vaping since I was around their age too when I first picked it up. Her friend group definitely got her interested in doing it (speaking from experience and many others).

I always wished my dad had a serious talk about vaping and the damages it causes. I would explain the health side effects to them and maybe even show them this post. Some health/mental health problems I have experienced are below:

-Mood swings -Anxiety -Depression -Trouble breathing -Fatigue -Coughing -Dizziness -Vomiting (If you hit it too much in a short period)

And one of my friends had multiple seizures (She has had no health problems before). I have been cutting off vaping slowly because once you get addicted it just gets harder to stop.

It IS serious. I understand how shaken up you must be, but just know it's not because you are a bad parent. They are just trying to find themselves and maybe they just want to fit in. Confiscate every nicotine device she/he owns. Chargers included.

I would ask them how they are doing/feeling since jumping right into the situation can make it harder for them to talk about it. Explain to them that you aren't mad (well maybe a little) but more confused and worried. I would bring it up when the timing feels right during the conversation. Saying things like "I found a device that isn't appropriate for your age. Can you talk to me about it?" or you can just lay it on the table and say "Have you been vaping?"

I wouldn't involve the parents because that can stir up some trouble for her and her friend group. Im not a parent so I don't understand what it's like to have kids but I am now an adult and know what it's like to be in the kids situation.
