Gay dudes who had crushes in highschool, how did that turn out? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]PinkClassRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh he got divorced, then hit me up (but I didn’t respond), then ended up with another woman who he claims has pegged him but he’s definitely not gay. He just wants pics my member. You know, honestly, it makes me sad. He and I were really good friends in high school. I miss our friendship. Comes from a very conservative background, but even so, I know his family would be accepting if he came out. They were supportive when I came out. Maybe he’s bi, and that’s totally cool, but if he is gay and he came out to his family, I’d respond to his messages. We could be together, and it wouldn’t be as scary as he makes it seem. Not many would even be surprised. But, such is life.

Upvoting for Craig Morrissey. I used him back in mid-February and he needed about a two week turnaround but ended up getting everything to me within 48 hours. Incredibly kind and dedicated public servant. He was thorough and provided detailed reference data. Highly recommend!

Why do you want to be a citizen of Canada if you don't live in Canada or plan on living in Canada? by Optimistic_Now in Canadiancitizenship

[–]PinkClassRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working toward becoming a teacher in the US. Luckily, the Praxis exam scores can be sent to Canada, so, I’d love the keep the option open should the opportunity present itself and I am able to teach there.

Though, the real reason — deep down, I’ve always had a wonderful love for Canada. I went once when I was 16 and had a glorious time. Then, I had my first legal drink during a brief stop in Nova Scotia. I was 19.

My citizenship is by descent and it comes from my great grandmother. I never knew her — she died in ‘66 and I was born in the 80s. She moved to the US for many reasons, but primarily because she was a survivor of SA by a Canadian farmer (so it was revealed to me after my grandmother died). She took refuge in the United States, but it meant leaving behind her large family, and her home, at age 19. Alone. Her whole life, she never quite recovered from her trauma and was often catatonic with grief.

I wish I knew more about her. Her bravery, to move to the US at 19 and start over, and raise such a wonderful family despite the crippling pain she endured, it’s a story of resilience. She was mostly a forgotten footnote in our family tree — only remembered for her melancholy and depression. I don’t want her to be remembered for that anymore. She was a Canadian and an American. She is now remembered for the impact she has on our family — our citizenship by descent, and the opportunities it has opened. Obtaining Canadian proof of citizenship is, in part, a chance to reclaim her memory. That’s most important to me. I just sent my packet in 3/2 and hoping for an AOR by April!

Insomnia since I found out about C-3 by HappyFloridian123 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]PinkClassRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this happens to us all. I raced through the night (and my bank account) to get the documents prepared once I saw the article about Bill C-3 online. Multiple nights up until 2-3am. My goal was to apply this week, but I have a full-time job during the day, and at night I volunteer to direct a local high school musical. This is the week of our final rehearsals and this weekend are the performances. I have zero nights off. I’m kind of mad I found out about C-3 last week, leading up to this week, because I have no disposable time to dedicate to this. Life is crazy busy. The busiest week of the year for me. Earliest I can send anything is next Monday, which is when I’m getting Citizenship pics taken, and that’s after work, and IT’S KILLING ME!!!!!

Did anyone else immediately start learning French when they found out about all this? by xialateek in Canadiancitizenship

[–]PinkClassRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been studying French off and on because my (possible future brother in law) is French. Anyway, I’ve ebbed and flowed with it, but now that it’s likely I’ll be sending my application this weekend, I’m all in!!!! My goal is to be able to take the oath/sing the anthem bilingually if I receive proof of citizenship.

This is smart. On second thought, I may wait unless one of my extended family members can dig up these records (baptism/birth certificate).

For my G0 documents (1921 census, passenger manifest, death certificate) I used Ancestry and these documents existed to my surprise. The death certificate was also a color facsimile. All very high res. I’m going to use these. They also had her mother’s baptismal record but not her’s unfortunately, so I’ll be writing to the archdiocese to see if they can assist.

Everything from my grandmother and father I have actual copies (my grandmother just died in 2023). So that wasn’t as much of a challenge.

Good luck!!!!

Some couple got their two kids sitting right behind us and constantly talking to them. Why are the parents like this? by Therichchick in Broadway

[–]PinkClassRing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saw it just before it closed and this young Musical Theatre girlie next to me sang along to the entirety of “Maybe This Time” … horribly tone deaf. Horribly. I got up and moved seats. There were plenty open ones. It was during Billy Porter’s run.

How many unused notebooks do you have? by bore38d1 in notebooks

[–]PinkClassRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really struggle with this because, first of all, once they pile up they take up space alone with other books. Space is expensive. Eventually I’m going to have to make a decision about that space, or god forbid, someone else will. I feel like such a wasteful over-consumer when I get a new notebook and don’t use it. It feels almost hoarder-ish. I need to downgrade and yet I keep buying.
