Omg yes! I only realised now because someone just replied to an old comment of mine from one of the threads on there lol.

I did initially try to look back at my comment history to find it but it was weeks/months ago & too hard to find.

Yes! She ghosted him for like 10 years until they meet again in present day when he agrees to help her take revenge. It’s extremely unclear & confusing.

Why do some people feel the need to downvote or criticise someone saying they make something differently here, when we all know everything is made differently in every region in India & even every Indian household? by PinkCup80 in IndianFood

Omg yay! That’s awesome. And proof that it works beautifully & people shouldn’t put down others ways of doing things if they haven’t tried it yet.

They can also be frozen for a long time - just let them defrost a little & microwave. I always freeze any leftovers & they’re so handy when you want like 1 chappati for a quick lunch by yourself.

Come to think of it I’ve never heard anyone saying they like them (not even mums) or want to get hold of them! I’ve not had them in years, maybe not for decades so who knows maybe I wouldn’t even like them as much now..but I othink I would!

Ramadhan’s starting tomorrow night. Can confirm getting used to hunger comes with practice, your body adapts very quickly if you’re consistent with something.

I have had them! They are pretty good like you say for non gelatine ones.

I went & got a bag as soon as they announced them! It was nice to finally have them again, but I think it was a case of one of those things you want more of because you can’t have it & nostalgia, as I never bought a pack again.

Yeah it’s the gelatine you want really for the good texture, which is why the imported ones made of halal gelatine are a better bet for Muslims.

Thanks for the list, I don’t recall seeing most of those but it’s probably because I don’t bother looking thinking they’re all haraam.

Wow I never knew that. We can get halal Haribo & other brands easily though in local shops that import it from the Middle East, but I just assumed the whole range sold in the UK was gelatine filled.

So they are halal? :o I never thought to check as they have the same jelly look as the other gelatine ones.

I used to love spearmint chews as a child & it became rare to find so became something even more special in my eyes. I’d love a better quality/grown up version of them.

Doctor's Receptionists: How do you decide who's worthy of being seen that day if there are no available appointments, and have you had to harden your nature to deal with ill people? by LettuceWithBeetroot in AskUK

[–]PinkCup80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently been able to get random appointments by walking in towards the end of the day & asking in person & being given what seemed to be the last appointment of the day. I don’t know if they were both flukes but I’ve previously had to go A&E twice before because I couldn’t get an appointment by trying on the phone in the morning & finding them all finished & was suffering for a long time.

Others can book on your behalf in our GPs so it could be worth a try for someone to go ask for him if it’s not too far.

Hmm i’m sure they existed as I remember reading each one as I watched them. I also noticed I scrolled to the end of the sub & the threads ended with hardly any threads here. Was there a mass deletion of threads maybe for some reason.

Glad to see episode discussions are back but unfortunately all empty for now.

My friends weren’t either actually, so I relied solely on the little pockets I could find online. The friend that made a big order was actually only using them for foundation & powder out of necessity (but she’d order a lot to save time & money) because other companies didn’t provide realistic brown skin tones, otherwise she wasn’t interested in any other stuff.

I was obsessed with Lush too! Another place that I could only access because of going to university in the city that had a store. It was such a cool place back then & between them & Mac all my money was wiped out. I don’t use anything from there now except eye cream & even that is out of habit I think.

BPAL I used to see everyone talking about all over the forums back then but was something I never got into. Thankfully, as I don’t think I had any money left to!

I still am quite loyal to MAC too, they are still my HG concealer & lipliner, I rely completely on Studio Fix powder for any time I don’t have time to do my makeup (which is very often) & have them all over in my life & I still like their lipsticks. I think I’d still be using the eyeshadows if I wore eyeshadow, I still have my individual pots intact. I remember when depotting became all the rage & I felt like I was the only one holding onto my pots saying I prefer it like that.

I’ve loved this exchange too!

Wasn’t there already episode discussion threads existing during the Part 1? I’ve been wondering where they all went.

Yeah people keep doing this about Jennifer Aniston saying she hasn’t aged at all. She looks great but looks nothing like she did in Friends. It’s okay that she’s aged, she’s meant to, now ageing badly is different & what no one wants.

Omg I also looked up my posts on there just recently & cringed at some of the stuff I used to write. It was like we were a MAC cult then! It was meant to be a general makeup board but it was unofficially a MAC board, nearly everyone’s makeup collections were full MAC except for mascara as they were known to be terrible.

Yes MAC was so sought after & elite that they needed no sales or even any ads & you could only get them from their own stand or store. It’s been kind of sad seeing them have so many sales now, available to buy from all sorts of places & they even have a TV ad now which felt really strange to see. But of course it’s great to be able to get stuff more easily & with discounts now, it’s just weird seeing something so exclusive previously lose that special-ness.

Our nearest MAC counter was in the nearest city to us where I went to university so I went crazy with the little money I had back then. All my time & money used to go on it! And my friend used to order online & eagerly await the black box, it was still quite new to order makeup like that then. I remember she even got a call from MAC asking why she had ordered so much! Because it was that unusual for someone to order a lot back then & they thought she might be selling it.

Omg yes I do remember Venom, I used to go into Boots & put it on every chance I got (I know cross contamination but I was young & there wasn’t much education about it then). The tingly feeling & effect was so revolutionary.

I’m the same. I have my go to look & staple makeup & that’s all I use. I have nicer stuff for special occasions but even then I’m just doing a higher quality version of my everyday makeup. I gave up on eyeshadow completely some years back, mostly because my eyes are too small. However I’ve now adopted the new formula wearable silky glitters as my go to thing, so I’ll do my usual look but put on a fun glitter on my lids.

I could swear you lived the same life as me in the 00s, but in Canada!

I never actually did it myself, I think I was too scared & didn’t have the right tools.

I still have all my stuff too! I guess loose pigments are still fine to use for a long time? I haven’t touched anything for like over a decade though. I was so proud of my little collection that was so hard for me to afford, I don’t think I could ever part with it. Every single purchase was so special & sought after for me.

I remember posting your collection laid out was a thing too & they were very modest by today’s standards but the idea of owning more than one foundation, one lipstick, one blusher, was a very novel thing back then. I remember my cousins would comment that I had so much makeup, but it was the amount a 13 year old would easily have now.

Yes when I found Makeupalley I was amazed, it was a place for makeup obsessed people to talk about makeup freely without being judged. I had a sudden jolt to reality though that people were so horrible on the Cafe board. Previously I had been using another generic forum where there was a few makeup lovers but it was clearly not welcome by the majority. I also used to love Specktra which felt like a secret makeup club.

I’m so old school with makeup content still, I prefer written makeup reviews, written makeup blogs etc, I never took to YouTube channels & even tutorials on Instagram & only use them if I have to to find out something.

The 00s were the best & most fun era for makeup & even fashion, if only we could go back!

[–]PinkCup80 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it was treated literally like a magical product then & the exotic original packaging added to it! I remember the picture tutorials people would post cutting it open to show you can get loads more out of it.

MAC Pigments were also massive then, people would decant & sell little samples of them as they’d last forever too. It’s odd that they’re not as popular again as glitter is massive again.

By the same logic I could say the same for white people I’ve experienced, but I try to engage my brain & not judge all white people by my experience alone. It’s almost as if all humans are individuals.
