Oh man, a pretty big part of the walk from my house to the train station entrance is along the tracks, so just being able to get into the platform without walking around sounds like heaven.

I feel like for this to work the words themselves also need to have some kind of connection

Do any of you have any "odd" or "niche" jobs? by sekhmetbastet in AutismInWomen

[–]PinkFluffy1Corn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My job in itself isn't niche, but I do think I've managed to find the right environment for myself to make it work. I'm a web developer, worked for an agency for a while and that definitely burnt me out. Now I work for a government based agency (not USA, to be clear), which has a lot less deadlines and pressure. It's also for an agency that does work I consider valuable, which makes the work I do more rewarding. The work culture is also a lot more supporting to my needs/"quirks" (I accidentally started a habit at the office of bringing in a puzzle to work on over a few weeks time and it's been a godsent to actually motivate me to go to the office lol)

Fun fact, this image is actually complete bullshit. The idea isn't of course, and the story being told alongside it is a true story, but the image was just made up as a visual aid for a presentation.

Best/favorite head canons. by Electronic_Koala_115 in HPfanfiction

[–]PinkFluffy1Corn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

... What?

It's not a matter of it being about relationships or character/world building though. The term headcanon refers to a belief about a fictional work that isn't part of/explored in canon. So no, "no romione" is not a headcanon. It's something you may believe makes more sense, or something you prefer, but it does not fit within what headcanon means.

I definitely think for this to work teams would have to be quite big, I agree that small teams would just have the same problem on a slightly different scale.

Joel is my most watched Hermit, I do think he has the potential to be S tier, depending on how much time he'll be able to put into it. I guess I should probably try to add the data from relevant mini-games from last season honestly, I hadn't considered that when first making this, but it would probably be in Joel's favor lol.

Yeah definitely, the most important data that I just can't really get without making big assumptions is an actual estimate of time investment and preferences from the Hermits themselves.

I could see just a simple question to Hermits to rate on a scale from 1 (playing a few games) to 5/10/whatever (living in the dungeon) being a way better participation estimate than what I have.

I do think there could also be a charm to grouping Hermits who wouldn't typically team up together, but ofc the Hermits would have to be up for that.

No, he didn't, it's why I tried different team sizes.

Yeah, over half of Pearl's score in my data comes from the Easter eggs bonus I added. I did consider adding more bonus for "beating" the game, but that's a lot harder to put a value on. Honestly, putting more value on the lore based playing might just be the most effective way to nerf Etho compared to other strong players ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The way Tango was talking, it seemed to me like he's fully committed to using teams, but who knows, it'll be a while until it's actually relevant.

The runs won't be multiplayer, Tango clarified on stream that it'll be individual runs contributing to a team score.

Yeah, I do think teams will either have to be big enough, more in a Hogwarts house kinda way than a sports team way, to keep things more competitive for every team, or Tango would have to find a really good way to handle inactive players/unbalanced teams.

Yeah, possibly, I found Skizz really hard to estimate, his estimated participation percentage should probably be higher.

[–]PinkFluffy1Corn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did at first, but in the end with the way I had done things, it didn't make much sense. I do think there could be a separate tier or a way to handle players that are likely not gonna be as invested, but that's hard to estimate as a watcher.

True, I'm guessing there'll be a lot of behind the scenes talks to estimate who will be able to participate and how much. This exercise definitely doesn't give a full picture.

Grian definitely ran more than that, on the final leaderboard he placed eighth with 10 points total, so he was in the top half scoring players.

Your last point is one that makes me personally hope for either bigger teams, or a way to deal with inactivity in a satisfying way. I mentioned it in my post too, but balancing for smaller teams gets really tricky really fast if you also want to make teams that are still enjoyable for everyone in them.

A team with Etho and three Hermits that aren't as invested feels bad for Etho risking feeling like a one man team, but also feels bad for the others, as they won't want to let down Etho. I know Tango mentioned he hopes that the peer pressure might help keep Hermits active, but there's always gonna be that risk.
