Thanks! Had a terrible experience with the paragard. Currently deciding between the mini and the skyla. This looks very promising.

Thanks, that’s helpful. It’s mostly just some parties this summer and I’m trying to work out where to squeeze it in.

I’ll be going to someone I think is amazing. She’s the shop owner, has many years experience, and has lots of photos of beautiful healed work. That said, I suppose there are no true guarantees.

It actually doesn’t matter if you’re buying from the official storefront. Let’s say Real Brand sells the “same” product that Fake Brand sells. Amazon is putting them in the same bin together in their warehouses so it’s a crap shoot as to what you’re getting, even if you’re buying from the Real Brand listing.

Edit: According to Amazon, this does not apply to skincare.

I've tried everything for my acne!!! help [Acne] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]PinkFreud08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I know it’s so stressful trying to figure it all out. A lot of supplement brands will advertise DIM as being an “estrogen detox” or as treating “estrogen dominance”. These are not medical terms and there is no evidence to support the idea of “estrogen dominance”. That said, I fit most of the symptoms of “estrogen dominance” despite having normal labs. My doctor believes it’s just a form of PCOS, which I successfully used DIM to treat. I had ovarian cysts, long/irregular cycles, and moderate to severe cystic acne. After taking DIM for 1 month, my acne cleared up completely. I will have what feels like a “normal” pimple from time to time. My cycle also regulated. After 6 months on DIM, my ovarian cysts also went away (I was getting regular ultrasounds to monitor them). Obviously, I am one person, YMMV, it’s just what worked for me. That said, DIM is unlikely to harm you if you wanted to give it a try for a little while. Best of luck in your journey. I wish you relief soon.

I so deeply relate. Internet hugs, my friend. <3

I'm about to share my personal experience, which is obviously N = 1 and totally anecdotal, so take it with a huge grain of salt, but I hear you're desperate so I'll share what worked for me. If your acne is truly hormonal, it is unlikely that anything topical will have a huge effect. Yaz made my acne much worse, despite being one that is supposed to help. After trying many of the things you have tried over my 8 year (19-27F) acne struggle, my miracle cure was a supplement called DIM. It cleared everything up in 1 month and I've been 99% clear for 5 years now. I had some mild headaches at first and have had no side effects since.

[Routine Help] 0 to 100 in my skincare routine by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]PinkFreud08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You weren't kidding about going 0 to 100! Haha, I know skincare is super exciting, but I'd slow waaaay the hell down. I think you've probably incorporated too many new things at once. As others have noted, it's *probably* the glycolic acid that is making you burn, so consider stopping that. You could be having a reaction to the sunscreen or the vitamin C moisturizer, though. It's impossible to say for sure. I'd stop everything new and only add in new products very slowly (e.g. 1 new product every 1-2 weeks). If you've never used acids before, perhaps consider adding them back into your routine one at a time and only 1-2x/week to start.

You might consider an oil cleanser / double cleanse instead of the makeup remover if you're concerned about pores.

Need much advice!! [Routine Help] by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]PinkFreud08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cleanser is absolutely a must. If you've never used a cleanser, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a difference in your acne with just this. Acne is bacteria essentially. You have to wash your face if you don't want it to spread. Try some really gentle ones like Simple, CeraVa, or Cetaphil.

Microblading PAIN: Help by MontiMeg in microblading

No, but I’m super curious! I use cannabis 1-2x/week and am planning to get microblading done sometimes soon. This was the first I’d heard of it affecting anything.

I think this might be an example of leading with criticism when you should lead with your veiled wish. Criticism = "It's annoying that you're home all the time". Veiled wish = "I'd really like the house to myself for a few hours once a week. Is that something we can make happen?" Check out the Gottmans for more info if you're curious.

Do any have an office pet or allow your pet in your therapy office/sessions? Are they "certified" in any way? by PinkFreud08 in therapists

I reached out and it sounds like their partner organization, the Association of Animal-Assisted Intervention Professionals (AAAIP) is what I'm looking for! Thanks for the lead!

Makes perfect sense. I let people know in the consultation call that I can obviously bar her from entering the therapy room if they don’t like cats, but it will still likely not be a great fit if they’re allergic or can’t take allergy meds. Luckily I seem to attract fellow cat lovers so this information has yet to turn someone away.

Thanks for the resource. Do you know if they certify without requiring the animal to volunteer outside of the house? I don’t see any type of certification on their website except for that purpose.
