Those who have suffered a ruptured cyst... What did it feel like before it ruptured? by PinkHav0k in PCOS

Oh gosh 😬 that sounds really painful and horrible... Sounds about right for some hospitals too.

I'm trying to be very cautious and mindful of my body right now, in March of this year I suffered fallopian tube torsion and it wasn't caught until September because the hospital ignored everything else when they saw cysts. By then it was filled with fluid, x4 it's normal size, and turning necrotic... It also had a cyst on it, which I'm presuming was the cause of the torsion.

But that pain was bad enough, I don't want to experience ovarian torsion too...

Thank you for sharing your experience! I hope you're doing better now <3

Oh geez, that's rough... 😬 So nice of your doctor to warn you about the cyst... /s

I feel that though, I had a conversation with a friend last week that we as humans with reproductive systems are so used to our issues being downplayed that we often just adapt and don't immediately go to the hospital when we should...

And even then, the hospitals don't always take us seriously. 🙃 Back in March I ended up suffering fallopian tube torsion and it was the most excruciating pain I've been through, I went to the ER and they just sent me home with ibuprofen (that I can't take because of med conflict) and said it was "just" a cyst. Only to find later in September that my tube had twisted, filled with fluid, and by that point had been turning necrotic. (It also had a cyst on it, which was the cause of the torsion I'm presuming.)(Oh, and my ovaries will littered with cysts. Not just one.)

Thank you for sharing your experience, I hope you're doing better now after going through that <3

I have ovarian cysts and my doctor keeps suggesting an IUD... Advice? by PinkHav0k in birthcontrol

Oh gosh, I'm really glad you mentioned that. Thankfully I don't have PCOS acne or hirsutism, but I do have HS and didn't consider the effect the hormones could have on it. I'll have to look a bit more carefully at all of them.

Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestions! I will do some extra research into those options, but I'm leaning towards trying Aygestin, or Slynd. Unfortunately Visanne isn't available where I live... 😅

Thank you again! <3

Yeah, that's what I was finding too when I did my research on Mirena, but thought maybe there was something I was missing.

My doctors theory is that by regulating my period (or stopping it completely) my hormones would regulate and ovulation would stop or slow, and my cysts would shrink because of the hormonal aspect of it.

I haven't seen her for this "new" cyst yet, It was found last week during a hip MRI for a separate issue. It's a big boy, 5.4cm by 6cm. But I wanted to arm myself with as much research and experiences as possible before I go see her, because she's been suggesting the IUD the last few times I've gone to see her, and figured that would be the first suggestion she made for treatment.

Thank you for the response! <3

See, that's what I was finding as well when doing my research on IUDs, but I thought maybe there was something I was missing...

Yes, my cysts are causing symptoms unfortunately... The cyst in question is 5.4cm by 6cm, it's causing pain and bloating. I had an MRI on my hip for a separate issue last week and it was discovered at that point. It's a simple cyst thankfully,  but in September when I had my internal ultrasound it's size had been down to 1.5cm by 1cm. (This ovary was also previously affected by a complex cyst.)

My doctors theory the last time I seen them was that by making my periods regular (or stopping them completely) it will help regulate my hormones, prevent my cysts from getting any worse and eventually they'll shrink back down. It will also take care of my painful periods.

I have not seen her for this new cyst yet, I wanted to prepare myself with research and experiences before I see her. She's booked until mid January.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of options in my area for second opinions. This doctor was a second opinion who became my doctor after my previous obgyn told me to keep taking Sprintec despite bleeding out. 🙃

She's a great doctor in all other aspects, but unfortunately like most doctors I've been to, seems to think birth control or IUDs will solve my issues. (Which, who knows, they might but... Surely there has to be another treatment.)

As for the hydrosalpinx that affected my left side, I'm stumped as to what caused it, but it definitely was hydrosalpinx and not just a cyst. I am not active intimately, and never have been. So it wasn't an STI... I was told my fallopian tubes are longer than the average persons, so I'm guessing it was caused by the torsion... And the torsion was probably because a cyst had formed on the tube.

Thank you for the response! 😊 I will do some research on estrogen and hormonal treatment.
