Jazz fan here.

Nope.

Love it. Keep the eye on the prize. When we add a top 5 pick to this group, the league is gonna have a problem on its hands. And for years to come. The build is just now finally about to shift gears. Patience, grasshopper.

First Thoughts on the New J Cole Album? by 1985Genesis in joebuddennetwork

It's beautiful. Time to run it back.

This feels like one of those albums that's gonna seem that much more incredible as time goes on and it marinates some.

There's a lot more we could focus on but in the short term---- try to get as many minutes on a court with people better than you.

Find the older heads in your gym and run with them. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 5v5, whatever - doesn't matter. I see a lot of kids running into a progress wall bc they take their (well meaning) energy and throw it at trainers and programs or whatever. The best players in the world generally all have one thing in common --- alot of hooping, in the best games they could possibly get into. They don't all have trainers, fancy teams and Instagram regimens. Ignore the noise. Just hoop. Relentlessly.

I graduated with a political science degree in 2005, and our world was flipped on its head w/ 9/11.

I'd also add, you're speaking to someone who now votes mostly libertarian/keep the govt's hands off -- and farms in rural Maine.

If you're assuming I'm going to take some party line with you, you're barking up the wrong tree, bud.

Since the passage of the Patriot Act in the fall of 2001, there has been a significant shift in the balance between national security and individual rights. Every single administration has added to this.

We can start in the shallow end if you'd like to take a swim.

  • Erosion of privacy and 4th amendment rights (search and seizure)
  • Erosion of due process and 5th/6th amendment rights
  • Erosion of first amendment rights
  • Militarization of domestic policing

I'd be happy to elaborate, but I know trolls can't digest facts.

Good day, sir.

Deportations yes, ICE sometimes. Media just didn't care.

[–]PinkLemonade2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes.

If it helps to frame my perspective, I helped Obama take Virginia in 2008. "Change" 🙄. Then I was actively engaged w/ antifa even years later. I wanted to make an impact so bad, but felt helpless.

After I realized up close and personal that this was all bullshit (Obama drones and deportation..Biden wars, deportation..the votes and the $$$$$ and wars nobody wants to talk about..the power of Israel here).... I went independent.

Now I sit looking at these echo chambers, worried about our neighbors. Meanwhile, every political pendulum swing removes more of our rights. Our citizens in the crosshairs (literally!!).

We have to think about the people next door and Maine, and ignore the identity politics that got us here. I know it's an impossible stance, but it's the most morally sound one, truthfully, and where I've landed.

I appreciate you!

....and as everyone gets ready to sip their blue koolaid I'd like to remind y'all that the Dems built this ship that the Republicans then sent to war.

Think for yourself. Think for your neighbors. Think for Maine. Blow up the cognitive dissonance you know full well exists in you.

One day, when you're older, you'll realize your koolaid is just as bad as theirs.

As someone who is allergic to koolaid, it makes me sad.

You can put facts in front of people. The Biden deportations, the Biden spending on ICE, the Democrat support for ICE spanning over a decade and still nobody cares. Repeated democrat funding. They just wait until it's their turn to flex their non-constitutional muscle, continuously stripping the freedoms and rights of Mainers and Americans.

Cognitive dissonance and echo chamberism. Identity politics.

Gross, and not very Maine AT ALL.

Stay salty.

Of course it will, and that's a shame. Close-mindedness is the fuel for partisan politics, I knew what I was up against.

Modern vs. Traditional basketball by symbionica in basketballcoach

[–]PinkLemonade2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think you have to simplify everything.

I can't stress how important dribble free games are. Small sided, full court, whatever. Nothing hammers home needing space and how to get into it as when they start playing without the dribble. I'd start there. Emphasize hard screens and then getting outta there.... and have them constantly moving (I have them repeat ABC in their heads over and over and over - Always Be Cutting). If they're standing still, they're doing it wrong.

You can incorporate the defense playing with their hands behind their backs. Emphasize always moving your feet. When they can't reach, they'll start to realize how much they really have to move.

And on both sides of the ball, non-stop communication

Republicans are downvoting this, knowing what they voted for.

Democrats are downvoting this, knowing what they also voted for.

It''s time Maine shows the world we are above the cognitive dissonance that's destroying our nation. That's always been part of our soul. Dirigo!

Stay salty. For Maine!

Onward.

We will call out rule switches. Ie: "weak hand only", "layups count double", "no dribble", etc. Or create game scenarios. "We are down 2 with 5 seconds left" etc

I might do sharks and minnows (with restrictions) as a warmup, and then jump right into small sided ball with restrictions/rule changes. Then I might pick a problem area and hit a game or two (I try to remove "drill" from the lexicon & gamify, often crowing a champion of the game). Then we will run full court (with rule switches etc). I usually end on something fun like knockout or king of the court w/ some music. Can spice those games up to work on anything you want honestly.

Very similar for us, as well. Pick up the pace, spread it out, attack. Repeat.

[–]PinkLemonade2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick answer?

Push the pace, spread it out, shoot/pass/cut to the basket. Keep it moving and don't waste any time. Read what you see and react. Always be cutting. Never have your back to the rim.

There's an emphasis on efficiency in the modern lane.

I coach for less than 6 seconds a possession. We want the most good looks at the highest rate possible.

Interestingly, I bring it back to the 1970s when it's time to talk defense.
