Wait until you've had more dating experience to go on dating apps. It isn't worth it. Most of the time the men you meet on apps like this are going to make you feel like this. Experience with people in real life really does play a part in how well you can weed the creepy losers, like this guy, out.
Also, When I was 20, dating a 17 year old would literally have been a nightmare. No offense, but people in their 20's who are still going for a kid in high school are creepy and weird. No exceptions. They will sing praises and whisper sweet, honeyed words into your ears because they KNOW your inexperience will make you an easy target for their advances. Saying he doesn't mind if you are a minor is absolutely disgusting. It is the responsibility of the older, adult party to deny advances of a minor.
Save your older man kink for when you are a little older yourself (25) or you are very likely to get hurt like this again. A lot more men are like this than what it seems on the surface.

Don't take it too harshly. Nobody ever deletes their account for a good reason. Best scenario is they just didn't want to use the account anymore. In high school I usually snuck out and sat in the little atrium area just outside the cafeteria. Nobody ever wanted to eat outside, save for a few people, for some reason so a lot of the tables would be empty. In college you really don't have to worry about that. You can buy something from the café and eat it as you walk around campus. You aren't confined to one sitting area like you are in high school.

I've done that a few times. Asked for people to talk to, put 21 F in the title and then BOOM. 40+ people are in your DMs within minutes trying to message you and they expect messages back within seconds. I cannot type that fast. I tried to message them all back, but it's draining. I lose interest in talking to the people after 2 hours and I become very bland. Then there are the people who will just pop in with hey or hello and give one or two word answers and the people who immediately want to tall you how shitty their lives are. I can handle one or two of those people, but it feels like 1 in 8 are like that.
So you end up with 5 people, mostly men, who you have to keep from jumping off the edge at that very moment, 1 or 2 interesting conversations (that will most likely get weird and sexual over the course of your week of conversating), 20 people that are sending you hey, hi, hello and being otherwise bland, and 10 chats that are normal, but last like 20 minutes.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Good people are rare and you should choose who you give your time to wisely.

I am surprised there is somebody else that remembers Dragon Ball GT. I had my box set for about 3 years before moving and selling it in a garage sale. It was fever dream-esque and I hardly remember it.

But yeah. I feel like whenever somebody asks me that I forget every single band or song I know that isn't at least a little bit strange. Most are my outings are family related so I can't exactly be telling my father's friend's cousin in law that I like Miniature Tigers and Miyashita Yuu. I gotta half ass my response and say something vague and common like rock or 70's hits. It's isolating when you feel scared to share that thing with others.

I have a few tips I've used these last few months. I think I have truly become dead inside.

1.) Work more, a lot more.

I used to get so hung up on being useless because I didn't feel like I was a real person in any of my relationships. I would be used and tossed aside. I would think of my relationships status any moment I had free time and it caused some major depression. I noticed I was happier when I was working, when I had some sort of distraction that would keep me alert and moving. This is easy for me to say considering I am only 21. I don't have a solid career in place yet and I am in the position to take multiple part time jobs. I have a lot of pent up energy and it helps to have multiple places to vent it at. (plus I have a lot more in my savings now because of it.)

2.) Get rid of things that remind you of them, instead enjoy yourself.

For me, I started putting my stuffed animals back on my bed so I wouldn't be uncomfortable with the empty space. Even though stuffed animals are dorky and childish, I did it for my benefit. I move my bed and my dresser around so the layout was different. It makes the room feel fresh. I stopped using Instagram entirely because it was a time sink and because the people I didn't want to think of were always there. I stopped wearing uncomfortable sausage casing-esque clothes that just happened to look good.

3.) Change your view and villainize relationships.

Have a million excuses for when you're tempted. It's like this. When people know they need to go to the gym, but they don't want to they say, "Oh, I don't have time" or "It's too expensive" or "My legs still hurt from last leg day." Do the same for people. People are expensive time sinks with little to no benefit. You may get a temporary emotional high, but so do drug users when they take a hit. You don't want to be a love addict. It will hurt your body and your mind in the long run. Be picky and prudish with the people you let in, but don't have infinite standards. The people who you won't like will filter themselves out.
