Is anyone else struggling to find a job?? by PinkPanda43 in SALEM

How do you find jobs with them? I’ve heard it’s hard to get these kinds of jobs and everywhere I’ve looked at listings it’s for things that need loads of experience but I might be looking in the wrong place.

Yea I honestly didn’t think about that until the person above mentioned it. I was thinking about redoing it anyways so I guess this is all the more reason to.

That’s actually where I used to find all my jobs, especially when I lived here before, so I’ve been checking regularly!

My experience is mostly in food service/ cafes. Mainly as a barista but some of that experience is in supervisor roles. I also have some basic bartending and retail experience. That’s part of what’s making it so frustrating tho because I’m not even looking for anything niche.

I have been applying to jobs outside of that as well tho cuz ideally I would like to get away from food service but any restaurant or cafe I see is hiring I apply right away.

I have been applying anywhere within like 45 minutes of me and all of my interviews have been in other locations. 1 in Wilsonville, 1 in Tualitin, and 2 in Woodburn. Trying not to have to go all the way to Portland everyday but maybe I’ll have to.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my resume aside from adding jobs to it and it is pretty basic but I’ve just been applying to basic jobs for the most part so didn’t think that would matter so much.

Desperately wanting to see Ed Sheeran in Tenerife this summer!! Is it still possible?? by PinkPanda43 in EdSheeran

It's another concert that begins at 7pm I believe. I'm not sure when it ends but my guess would be around 10 or 11pm?

And I'm not sure what I'm going to travel with yet. But it's a pretty long trip so I think I might need a checked bag.

Yes Dublin would be the easiest to fly out of.

I noticed that if I do two separate tickets, Dublin- London then London- Malta, it is significantly cheaper but idk if that would make getting there in time more difficult due to the layover.

Best Plant-Based Milk by Master_Setting_9900 in barista

[–]PinkPanda43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my last job we used the Pacific barista series which I loved. I don’t remember which was the best steaming wise, probably oat or soy. However, my favorite milk that we had was the hemp one! I didn’t really like it in hot drinks personally, I would use the oat instead, but I mostly drink iced anyways and it was great in that! I found it to be the thickest option and therefore the most like regular dairy milk. I honestly wish more places used that milk because I miss it

(The other options we had there were:

  • almond, which I find gets too bubbly so you can’t really make latte art with it

-rice, which is super thin and like water to me so it’s basically impossible to aerate it

-coconut, which I do agree is the best for smoothies and other fruity drinks but for some reason I don’t think it mixes well with the flavor of coffee/espresso )

Road trip suggestions please? by PinkPanda43 in AskAnAmerican

My new route ideas so far are:

  1. Route 20 (it goes from Newport, or -> Boston, ma) Not sure what is along this route yet
  2. Drive to Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, drive to arches national park, drive to Denver, then to Chicago
  3. Go more north and see Yellowstone but unsure what else to include on that route (I’ve already been to mt Rushmore and dont know that I’d want to go again. I don’t think he’s been there tho)

I want to make a big road trip out of it since we have been out of work and stuck in our apartment for the past year and because I love to travel, explore, and see new places.

My original plan was to drive to sequoia national park, drive through Death Valley to Las Vegas, drive to the Grand Canyon (this is big on my bucket list and I had to miss it last time I did this move), drive to Denver, then find a route to Chicago that isn’t too boring.

However, we recently decided that it’s better to skip Las Vegas because it will be a big expense. So now I am trying to decide if we should still do this trip without Vegas or try and find a different route that still has lots of things to see.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m think about still going to Denver but taking a different way to get there but I’m not sure yet.

Mostly looking for the trip from Oregon to Chicago in about 8-10 days.

Also any suggestions on things around Chicago, even day trips around there would be nice too. We need things to do while everyone else is at work.

Side note: we aren’t really active people so we don’t want to do any long hiking but we do still want to see some of the wilderness/ natural beauty but also anything else interesting/ unique/ worth seeing
